Tripp Lites P936-000, Serial ATA (SATA) to IDE converter, allows a standard parallel ATA hard disk drive, CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD ROM, DVD + RW, etc, to be used with Serial ATA Controller cards or motherboards with Serial ATA ports, and meets the specification of Serial ATA 1.0 interface.

Simply plug the 40-pin side of the adapter into the IDE drive 40-pin connector, and attach power and SATA cables to the appropriate connections...no software to load.

This review is from: Tripp Lite P936-000 IDE to Serial ATA ( SATA ) Converter Pros: none Cons: I have a stack of about 12 IDE drives from various computers I have built throughout the years - It would not read any of them... After the first couple of drives, I thought that maybe they were just old drives and just didn't work anymore (even though they worked when I stored them. I decided to try firing up a very old computer with IDE cables and all 12 drives worked fine. I bought it based on reviews, so I think I might have received a defective item. Unfortunately I was traveling and working a lot and didn't get to try this until after 30 days had past. Manufacturer Response: I apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with your P936-000. Fast and got picked up by my Bios the second i fixed the problem. Cons: The cord that came with it, the sata one didn't work, I happened to have a spare so i just switched it out, easy fix, but an annoyance I wasn't expecting Other Thoughts: So far so good, i may update in the future to leave an experience after a longer time. 1 out of 2 people found this review helpful. Cons: Stick out a big, so if your drive mounts sideways in case (Sonota III), the cover won't close. Other Thoughts: Best for DVD-ROM drives and cases where the drive mounts facing the motherboard.
