Tripp Lite HDMI Over Cat5 Active Extender Kit B126-1A1

Pros: This device seems like it's not even there. That's exactly what I was hoping for! I needed to run a projector from a laptop on a table in the middle of a room. Both the projector and the computer have a HDMI interface. I would have just ran a HDMI cable, but the pipe that was run through the concrete under said table is only 1/2" I.D. and the run is over 90'. I ran a cat 6 wire through the pipe and above the ceiling and placed these wonderful devices at each end and my problems were solved.

Cons: None

Cons: I connected this and it failed to go over 720p. I tried using a 6ft Cat6 9store bought, not home made) and the result was with 1080p picture would come in an out. While it was in, it looked severely digitized. Go back to 720p...no problems

Pros: Does exactly what it is designed for. I needed cablebox video in another room, used existing Cat5e wiring (with fingers crossed) and the device performed well. A small tweak of the EQ and voila. A big plus is that you only need one cat5e cable. Others require two!!! Also has a repeat HDMI output at the transmitter end so you don't lose local video and audio. Have not verified Dolby,EX,PLII, TrueHD yet but in my application it really doesn't matter.
Comes with mounting tabs, screws, and tweaker screwdriver. Can't beat that. Tripp Lite never disappoints.

Cons: None at the time of this writing.

Other Thoughts: My config is FIOS box to Tripp Lite to Panasonic Plasma.
To change channels at the "headend" I use a Next Generations IR/RF Extender.

Pros: It took some work but the product is now performing just as described. Initially, I had some problems getting it to play properly with a Windows Media Center on my PC. After some fiddling however, I came to understand the issue was with Windows Media Player (default DVD player) and not my PC or the Tripp Lite product. When I started using TotalMedia 3 by ArcSoft, all the problems went away and it now works perfectly.

Cons: a little expensive but that's okay.

Other Thoughts: The instructions are very basic and that's a bit disappointing. I'd like to see some more information in there specifically around the specs needed to make it work over Cat5e wiring. Just because your wire is Cat5, you are not guaranteed a certian throughput.

Pros: Performed exactly as described with no issues.

Other Thoughts: Used this to capture 1080p video from a camcorder to a PC over a 100' Cat6 patch cable (stranded).
