5 out of 5 eggsWorks great with 7 x64

Pros: Solid. Comes with a fair enough amount of cable for the price. USB connector module is sturdy.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Paired with a Rosewill 16ft. USB A-M to A-F extension cable (Item N82E16812119252) and hasn't caused any problems, even with an HP Deskjet 500 on Windows 7 Pro x64. Surprising. Getting more for stock.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks in most situations

Pros: I have sold several of these to customers and they seem to work OK.

Cons: Does not emulate a physical LPT port. I was expecting to see LPT1 or LPT3 show up in my device list. However, this does not emulate a LPT port. It basically turns your parallel printer into a USB printer. So you can print from Windows, but if you have a DOS program or something that needs to find an LPT port, this will not work.

Also, if you unplug the cable and don't plug it back into the same USB port, it creates a new "USB00x" port and a new printer object. This has caused some people confusion because they end up with duplicate printers in the control panel.

3 out of 5 eggsWrong product

Pros: It's got a long cord

Cons: I have yet to use this product as the connector for it is for a printer, I was looking for something to plug into a electronics project board. Unfortunately it appears as if such a product does not exist.

Other Thoughts: They make usb to serial connectors but usb to parallel have eluded me if they exist at all.

4 out of 5 eggsJust What I Needed

Pros: It was great to be able to put my old dependable Lexmark Optra S1625 laser printer back to work. Every since I built my new computer I had not been able to use it because my assus p5ke motherboard did not have a paralel port. Now it works great.

Cons: Not as easy to work as I had hoped, The instructions were not very helpful. The cd has nothing to help unless you are running windows 98. However the new drivers for Vista 64 were available from Lexmark

Other Thoughts: Worth the small investment!
