1 out of 5 eggsReceived EU power plug instead of USA

Pros: Couldn't say since it couldn't power a laptop drive without a power cable

Cons: Wrong power adapter. Received two rounded (EURO) prongs instead 2 flat prongs (US)

4 out of 5 eggsNice wee unit

Pros: The speed is great. Has an on and off switch very handy.

Cons: Only thing for me is that the switch should be closer to the unit instead of the wall outlet. Its a pain when the outlet is behind the desk going to extend the cord to fit my needs.

3 out of 5 eggsBad Switches

Pros: The speed is very good. The drives read and write about the same as an internal drive.

Cons: I bought 3 they all would drop out if you moved the wire near to the switch. I returned them and all 3 of the replacements had exactly the same problem. Rather than RMA them I clipped the switches out and soldered and shrink wrapped the wires and now they work fine.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I bought 3 on Shell Shocker at a great price. Speed is almost as fast as an internal drive. Large easy to read on/off switch means I can leave my backup drives plugged in and just flip the switch any time I need them. Has no trouble handling 3 TB drives.

Cons: Connection to the drive is a bit loose. I think this is mostly because of poor engineering when all hard drives switched from the old reliable IDE ribbon connectors. SATA connectors in general have problems loosing contact. I put my backups on a shelf pushed against the back where they won't get bumped and have not had any problems.

Other Thoughts: Any time these come back on sale I will gladly buy more of them.

3 out of 5 eggsEasily Losses Connection

Pros: It transfers data.

Cons: This adapter easily loses connection with the hard drive with the slightest movement. I pushed my padded desk chair into my desk and it lost connection. It will disconnect and reconnect under 1 second, but your data transfer will stop.

Other Thoughts: You have 2 options when you use this adapter: Put it in a spot where it won't be susceptible to the slightest movement or bump until the entire data transfer is done. Or take a rubber band and put it around the adapter and your hard drive. The rubber band fix worked for me.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good Adapter

Pros: Very fast data transfer on USB 3. My Acer ultrabook running Windows 7 Home Premium recognized my DVD drive instantly when I attached the USB cable. Installed MS Office from DVD amazingly quickly and with no problems at all.

Cons: SATA connector apparently fits but does not "snap" on to some SATA drive ports. Be aware that the connector can fall out if you are moving things around. (A piece of tape will hold it in fine against moves or bumps if needed.)

Other Thoughts: Pulled a DVD player from my desktop and used this adapter to connect it to my DVD-less ultrabook to provide for some software installation. Everything worked perfectly. Had to be careful not to let the adapter fall out of the drive ports, but that was not a show-stopper. Definitely recommend this adapter!

1 out of 5 eggsVantec CB-STATUS-6 USB 3.0 adapter

Pros: work on a windows 8 pro 64 bit system with Intel chip based USB 3.0 port. Only tested with a 2.5" HDD

Cons: Does not work on a windows 7 pro 64 bit desktop system with a Renesas based USB 3.0 controller card. Getting error on USB mass storage unit. Tested on both 2.5" HDD and 3.5" HDD
Does not work on a windows 7 home laptop system with either Renesas based USB 3.0 or Avermedia based USB 3.0 controller. Getting error on USB mass storage unit. Tested on both 2.5"HDD and 3.5" HDD.

Other Thoughts: Request for RMA, the shipping cost is over $10, not worthy of spending the $10 shipping with not guaranty the the replacement unit will work. I am just going to toss this to the junk pile.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: It's fast when it doesn't disconnect the drive.

Cons: I bought this to use with my Laptop, but it constantly disconnects the drive and reconnects it. It rarely goes more than a few minutes before dropping the connection. It is extremely frustrating.

I have no trouble with my other USB 3 devices on the laptop, but this one is flaky. On my Desktop with USB 3.0 it works fine.

Other Thoughts: I have a handful of Vantec external hard drive enclosures and IDE/SATA to USB 2.0 adapters and have been happy with them. I'm not happy with this.

5 out of 5 eggsworked fine.

Pros: used to migrate/clone my C-drive (OS) to a new 1 gig SSD.
Worked fine... transferred about 110 gig somewhere between 20 and 30 minutes (sorry not exact, wasn't paying attention)

Cons: I started the process of cloning with my laptop on my lap... about 10 minutes in I moved my laptop to the table, including the USB 3 adapter with the hard drive attached, and it disconnected and reconnected momentarily... forcing me to restart the cloning process. is this the adapters fault, or the USB3 slot on my laptop, or just what happens to any connection when moving it around? I don't know... but i restarted with the laptop stationary, and the cloning went off without a hitch. I should have known better then moving it around while in the middle of a big job. my bad.

Other Thoughts: I am very satisfied with the results.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA - and I have to pay for replacement

Pros: should be decent (but only in theory)

Cons: 1) Overpriced product.
2) DOA
3) Newegg won't pay for return shipping

Other Thoughts: Power supply is DOA. Newegg won't pay for return shipping (for replacement). It will be cheaper to buy a new power supply than to pay return shipping.
Their reasoning - it's not their fault, because they don't manufacture products. But is it my fault???
Buyer beware.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,
We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. We do provide a one year warranty from the date of purchase on your product, so feel free to get that exchanged for a brand new unit.
