4 out of 5 eggsNeeds a user manual tweak

Pros: Windows 8.1. The device came with a driver CD. When I tried to install the driver, I got a message that my system is not supported. Grrr. I was about to complain when I decided to just plug the thing in. It works.

4 eggs instead of 5 for misleading documentation

Cons: Documentation a little inaccurate. I can live with this.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: My employee's laptop Ethernet drive wouldn't transfer over 10mbps. Tried everything to fix and decided to stop wasting my time and bought this. Phenomenal adapter and it's plug'n'play so anyone can use this.
Speeds are faster than usb 2.0 speed for data transfer

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: My business transfers large amounts of data between computers and the server and the wireless adapter in the laptop created system crashes because it would slow down the entire system.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy Peasy

Pros: Portable NIC...where's the issue there
increased bandwidth over USB 2.0 so it can actually carry most of the data you will ever send through it, at least the bios says 480 megabit for 3.0 and 12 for 2.0. I don't know that it will carry 1 gigabit fully though
fairly inexpensive

Cons: no, not any with this device. Having a new motherboard arrive with a bad NIC well that's another matter...

Other Thoughts: If I send the board back it costs me shipping plus I have to rebuild the system and at the end I would not have this device so...

5 out of 5 eggsActually Works!!!

Pros: Product works as described in windows 8.
May require a reboot or two to become active.
One for the card to be recognized by windows and the other for the router to assign it an address
Combined with motherboard's Gigabit Ethernet adapter to do teaming...

Cons: Absolutely None ...

Other Thoughts: Did not think it would actually work!!!
Purchased 2 to use on 2 mini-itx that has only one gigabit network adapter thinking of buying 2 more to use on 2 Gigabyte Z77 motherboards that have one network adapter

5 out of 5 eggsWorks without hassle

Pros: 100% Plug & Play on my Microsoft Pro tablet running Windows 8.1. Instantly recognized without any issues. Cable is thick not flimsy so it should stand up to heavy use.

Cons: None thus far.

Other Thoughts: Great construction with nice thick cable. Activity LEDs are a welcomed addition

5 out of 5 eggsNice device, good speeds.

Pros: This device gives you great speeds of Ethernet 1Gbp over USB3. There's no bottle neck when connected to a USB 3 port.

Device looks and feels solid. Plug and play with all versions of Linux including Fedora, Ubuntu, Suse.. etc. no drivers/modules needed.

I use it to pass the device to virtual machines and works great over KVM. Also had used in windows machines and works without a flaw, no driver needed.

Cons: No cons, device works great.

Other Thoughts: I got it using a vantec coupon, I paid $19.00 free shipping,
I recommed this device, works like a champ.

5 out of 5 eggsworks great

Pros: implementation a breeze. plug into usb 3 port, windows 8 x64 installed latest driver, and worked immediately in gigabit speed.

Cons: at the beginning, it seemed some websites were behaving strangely while surfing, however , after about 10 minutes, it went back to normal

Other Thoughts: the chipset is from Axis Electronics Corp., and the chipset is the AX88179. the latest software and drivers are on their support site.

the drivers and software on the included CD are outdated.

warning !!! : in the package, the CD sticks up high, so be careful when cutting it open. Start as high up on the packaging as possible. I accidentally cut the edge of the CD with my kershaw knife, however, powerISO was still able to replicate it.

vantec makes quality products.
