5 out of 5 eggsWORKS GREAT

Pros: Great product.
Despite what some other reviewers have to say, this adapter works perfectly on XP and Vista (32 & 64 bit versions).

Cons: The worst thing I can say is that the documentation is poor.

Other Thoughts: When using it with Vista, unlike XP, which lets you install and use a non-certified (no digital signature) driver, you must tell Vista EVERYTIME you reboot to load the driver, because it doesn't have a digital signature. This is done by hitting F8 as you are booting up.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not work

Pros: Would be nice if it did work but it does not.

Cons: There is no seperate power supply to let it spin as mentionned in the previous post, USB connector only. Downloaded driver from Koutech's Web site, after a confusing installation process still no succes.

Other Thoughts: Too bad I was past the return date when I tried it, ... to the recylcle bin.

5 out of 5 eggsXP doesnt require drivers

Pros: No USB drive adapter com with Windows XP driver because XP does not use them. Drivers are requires for Win 95/98. I use these type of adapters regularly and they work very well if use properly. First, plug in the power and data connectors to the drive. Second, and this is key, apply power to the drive and let it spin up (allow 30 secs). Last, plug the USB connector to the computer. Windows XP will find he new USB device and will install drivers from Windows. WINDOWS WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THE DRIVE IF IT IS POWERED UP WHILE THE USB CABLE IS CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER.
ALSO FOLLOW THE ORDER IN REVERSE TO REMOVE THE DRIVE

Cons: The only cons I see is the many users aren't understanding how to use the product

1 out of 5 eggsNo driver for Windows XP

Pros: If it worked, it would have been a very nice product.

Cons: No driver for Windows XP.

Other Thoughts: I have the product for a couple of days. In the package I received, the driver CD is empty -- there is no driver for any Windows. On Koutech web site, there are drivers for Vista 32/64 but not for XP. The product's specification, however, does claim that Windows XP is supported.

1 out of 5 eggsin limbo

Pros: Product appearance and layout.

Cons: CD enclosed with product has drivers for Win 98 and ME. Product won't work as plug and
play on my system (XP Home), nor can it find drivers.
Koutech website download only has
updated drivers for Vista. Instructions with product are very poor.

Other Thoughts: Have emailed product support at
Koutech, but haven't heard back from
them yet. I don't want to give up
this easily on what could be a really neat device if only I could
get it to work.

1 out of 5 eggsBad product

Pros: None

Cons: This product does not work. Our company recently bought a new XP machine with no parallel or serial port on the mother board. I bought this product, trying to solve both problems at once; however, none of the parallel or serial devices I have connected to this device are detected by XP. Not only that, but the hardware drivers are not automatically installed through plug & play because there are about 5 versions of both the serial and parallel drivers on the CD. The instructions are also very poorly written and have obviously been translated directly from another language into English/
