5 out of 5 eggsCat6 at a good price

Pros: Price, quality...it's got it all.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Not much to say about this. The price point for 1000ft of Cat6 is great. And it IS Cat6. Some Cat6 is really just Cat5e with a different label on it. This stuff meats the Cat6 specs. I purchased several boxes of it and will be buying several more.

5 out of 5 eggsThis looks like the forign Mfr's are wantimng to step up quality perception

Pros: Hey, this DOES HAVE PER FOOT MARKINGS START AT 1,000 FOOT!! Good stuff! Wish they listed THAT in the spec here at NE.
The wire is a nice shade of Purple and the jacket is a plastic that when bent makes a lighter color mark so others have complained, but it does not damage the integrity of the wire, but of course always observe the EIA spec of no bend past 4x diameter (?). But the box is way kool as it is high gloss, graphic picture that would impress anyone when you walk in with this. Has areas for the date, how much and used by who, but the printers need a spell checker as I did a proofreading mark sets all over the place on the box. Sheesh! Chinglish. But as is common of most China made products, the cardboard quality is not like what you would get from a Belden or equivalent mfr. I suggest you do what I did and check the unspooling turns inside then clear shipping tape the heck out of it and reinforce the carring handle for sure. Use 3M tape as its strong and does not tear.
Tech info on the wire, the inner separator seems to be good and the turns per foot seem consistent to give the 350Mhz specs for CAT6. A few spots the binder machine that sets the pairs before it goes into the outer jacket cover have some spots with a bump which you will feel while it runn ing throught yopur hands while unspooling, but the pairing seems fine which is where the data cares as it transmitting along. I have not yet run tests on a frequency spectrum analysis or my scope, but its fine for most CAT5e applications and patch panel/jacks. The copper holds up to my "how to break a coat hanger without a wire cutter" trick when bent up a bunch, something real cheapo copper does not hold up to. I would say it lasted a ten time test or so, done six to eight times, no problems. This means it would have good longevity in a wall or rack, BUT I sure would not use this for making short patch cords or from wall to computer or printer, etc as its too stiff. This is great for construction runs in walls, etc. and cant beat the price, I guess copper is cheaper in China?
Oh and by the way, the pull string works just fine to open the jacket, use your pliers, not your fingers. Ouch!

Cons: I would bet if you or your shipping company drops this from too high, it will snarl when trying to un-spool because the cardboard is weak and has minimal flex and the holding fins inside the box will give-NO DOUBT! thats why it was the very first thing I looked into when it arrived, nothing like when you are doing a pull from the top of a sixteen foot ladder 55 feet away and it jams! Not a good moment.

Other Thoughts: Hope you have the confidence and info to make a more informed purchase, I always love to help. Bugs Yexley

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Outer shell is quite sturdy compared to some brands I have purchased. Good color when trying to lay in a new network besides the old one. Makes for removing the old cord easier.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsIt just works

Pros: Cheap, it works for GB ethernet, have run a few hundred feet and no kinks or problems yet.

Cons: the nylon string that you can use to split the cable jacket doesn't work. or the cable jacket is too hard for the string, either way its hard to use. That's just a minor detail though, no biggie so its not worth losing an egg.

5 out of 5 eggsOrdered purple got red

Pros: Easy enough to work with and connects at 1 Gps as advertised.

Cons: I ordered purple and got red. 2 stars off for new egg.

Other Thoughts: Given the heads up on kinking from other reviews I pulled the wire out of the box before running the wire. No issues with kinking this way.

Getting the wrong color adds insult to injury since I pulled a bone head the month before and forgot to change the ship to address to my new house. New egg was ZERO help in rerouting the delivery when I called them the minute I noticed the error via UPS tracking.

The losers that bought my old house turned out to be thieves and denied they ever recieved the order. So I had to eat $165. The very dissapointing part is new egg had an opertunity to reroute the delivery and chose to give me the run around on the phone. They also never sent the prommised followup email when they allegedly tried to do a recall on the package.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Budget UTP

Pros: Cheap bulk UTP; PVC jacket seems slightly thicker than usual (might simply be the texture) and the cable itself is stiff (see cons), which reassures me when laying rather precarious lines; Supports gigabit Ethernet; available in purple.

Cons: This cable will kink something nasty [inside the box] unless you or someone else guides the cable inside the box. This seems unnecessary for something that should plain work. Also, the cable I received featured an "X" shaped plastic divider through the length of the cable separating each pair. This is fine for running lines through buildings, terminating drops and at patch panels, but makes patch cable construction a nightmare; this is because the plastic increases the thickness of the cable making it impossible to terminate using an 8P8C connector without exposing wires.

Other Thoughts: If you are laying cable throughout a building or will not be making patch cables, this is a good value. If you need to make patch cables, look elsewhere; the value is not worth the headache, in my opinion.

5 out of 5 eggsCant go wrong

Pros: Product was very well priced compared to buying locally, even with shipping costs. Quality of the wire was great and all my drops worked without having to run any wires twice.

Cons: Like others have noted the box is poor quality and kinks easily. But the wire itself I have no cons to list.

Other Thoughts: I ran a total of 8,000 ft of this wire (3 different colors) and had no problems at all pulling or terminating it. I would highly recommend this wire for low cost and good quality.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's cable, does what's required

Pros: Purchased to string Cat6 in new house, price was OK.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Haven't powered network up yet, but now I have enough Ethernet cable to last me the rest of my life.
