5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Outer shell is quite sturdy compared to some brands I have purchased. Good color when trying to lay in a new network besides the old one. Makes for removing the old cord easier.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsIt just works

Pros: Cheap, it works for GB ethernet, have run a few hundred feet and no kinks or problems yet.

Cons: the nylon string that you can use to split the cable jacket doesn't work. or the cable jacket is too hard for the string, either way its hard to use. That's just a minor detail though, no biggie so its not worth losing an egg.

5 out of 5 eggsOrdered purple got red

Pros: Easy enough to work with and connects at 1 Gps as advertised.

Cons: I ordered purple and got red. 2 stars off for new egg.

Other Thoughts: Given the heads up on kinking from other reviews I pulled the wire out of the box before running the wire. No issues with kinking this way.

Getting the wrong color adds insult to injury since I pulled a bone head the month before and forgot to change the ship to address to my new house. New egg was ZERO help in rerouting the delivery when I called them the minute I noticed the error via UPS tracking.

The losers that bought my old house turned out to be thieves and denied they ever recieved the order. So I had to eat $165. The very dissapointing part is new egg had an opertunity to reroute the delivery and chose to give me the run around on the phone. They also never sent the prommised followup email when they allegedly tried to do a recall on the package.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Budget UTP

Pros: Cheap bulk UTP; PVC jacket seems slightly thicker than usual (might simply be the texture) and the cable itself is stiff (see cons), which reassures me when laying rather precarious lines; Supports gigabit Ethernet; available in purple.

Cons: This cable will kink something nasty [inside the box] unless you or someone else guides the cable inside the box. This seems unnecessary for something that should plain work. Also, the cable I received featured an "X" shaped plastic divider through the length of the cable separating each pair. This is fine for running lines through buildings, terminating drops and at patch panels, but makes patch cable construction a nightmare; this is because the plastic increases the thickness of the cable making it impossible to terminate using an 8P8C connector without exposing wires.

Other Thoughts: If you are laying cable throughout a building or will not be making patch cables, this is a good value. If you need to make patch cables, look elsewhere; the value is not worth the headache, in my opinion.

5 out of 5 eggsCant go wrong

Pros: Product was very well priced compared to buying locally, even with shipping costs. Quality of the wire was great and all my drops worked without having to run any wires twice.

Cons: Like others have noted the box is poor quality and kinks easily. But the wire itself I have no cons to list.

Other Thoughts: I ran a total of 8,000 ft of this wire (3 different colors) and had no problems at all pulling or terminating it. I would highly recommend this wire for low cost and good quality.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's cable, does what's required

Pros: Purchased to string Cat6 in new house, price was OK.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Haven't powered network up yet, but now I have enough Ethernet cable to last me the rest of my life.

2 out of 5 eggsBeware of Kinks

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: Cable kinks in box easily.

Other Thoughts: After pulling this to three bedrooms, half my runs seemed to have a kink formed in it. I was able to straighten most of them out but the damage had been done already. The kinks would happen inside the box where there was nothing I could do to prevent it.

5 out of 5 eggsIts cable

Pros: Inexpensive
Gigabit Speeds

Cons: Actual wires are a bit brittle, but I've made numerous punch downs and terminations on this with little problems.

Don't know if its rated for 10Gb (see "Other thoughts").

Other Thoughts: Box says Cat-6E which is a standard that does not exist. The IEEE standard for 10Gigabit cable is Cat-6A (Cat-6 Augmented), which means that this cable could or could not meet those standards (according to info on the box it exceeds Cat-6 standards but like I said, it might not meet Cat-6A standards). I did some searching and came up with nothing. My installation is not rated for 10Gb anyway so couldn't give real numbers, works great for 1Gb connections.

4 out of 5 eggsGood cable, no problems

Pros: I’ve used two boxes of this stuff. Performance is great. Every run I’ve installed has connected at a Gig. (based on connection lED's)

Cons: The manufacturer’s site is shy on information, I can’t find anyplace that says specifically states what use this stuff is rated for (in wall, plenum/airspace, and riser/between floors, etc).
