5 out of 5 eggsDitch the DVI-VGA Adapter

Pros: I built an HTPC to go with my 3M Super short throw projector that I bought from NewEgg.
The projector has a vga input. The computer has vga. I did not want to have to have an adapter hanging off the back of the computer so this cable did the job.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I may get another one just to keep in my stockpile. I know it will come in handy soon.

4 out of 5 eggsaddition to my previous review

Pros: *

Cons: *

Other Thoughts: I forgot to mention along with dvi-i, and dvi-d, the dvi-A. Dvi-a would be mainly the analog only version for dvi. Either way, I didnt get any display from my vga( analog) on my laptop to the dvi-I (which supports analog as well) on my kvm. I also tried going straight from the laptop to my monitors dvi-i and still had the same result.......Hope my reviews helped!!

3 out of 5 eggsdid not do what i hoped it would

Pros: Made pretty solid. prob would work in the revers of what i needed. Im sure it would take the dvi output from a vidcard and connect it to the vga of a monitor.

Cons: I wanted to connect my dell 1520 laptop(has a vga only) to my dvi KVM switch. I was certain since the dvi-i allows analog signals that it would have worked but it didnt. The way i wanted it set up was to go from my vga out on my laptop to the dvi-i input on my kvm. i got no display. I ended up just using my monitors vga port for my laptop display and the kvm to use my reg mouse and keyboard with the laptop.

Other Thoughts: it would have been nice to consolidate my computers to one kvm. I have my desktop, my rackmount server, and what would have been my laptop connecting to one kvm so that all id have to do is hit one button and switch everything over to that pc. ......Maybe my assumption was wrong, but from what i understood about displays- vga is analog, dvi-d is digital only , and dvi-i supports analog and digital- I thought this would have been what i needed. Overall still a solid constructed cable. just not for what i needed.

5 out of 5 eggsHave several

Pros: I have several of these. I am VERY impressed by the quality of the cables. They are very sturdy, and work much better than a simple adapter on the back of your computer that risks breaking the adapter on the back of your motherboard.

Cons: none
