Does the Job
This review is from: BYTECC BT-US710 USB 7.1CH Sound Adapter
Pros: Cheap. Works. Clean sound. Note: I am not using these in a high-fidelity application so I have not evaluated them for such an application. I use this with some small notebook speakers for basic "web browsing" sound at my desk. I have an M-audio card routed to speakers for high-fidelity needs. This USB adapter plus the USB powered speakers work fine for my needs here... no issues.
Cons: No volume controls on the part, however, this wasn't a problem for me at all... the PC software controls are more than adequate.
Other Thoughts: I paired this with small notebook speakers from SIIG(IC-SP0212-S1). The speakers are USB powered by require an audio output from the PC. One thing of interest, when I initially powered the SIIG speakers from my PC audio port I encountered some digital noise. Once I connected the speakers to this USB to audio adapter, the noise issue is completely gone. Note: both speakers & USB audio adapter are powered from same USB hub.(I think that is critical for clean sound). I was also concerned about connecting amplified speakers to an amplified audio adapter(neither has physical volume controls) and this proved to be a non-issue... the pair work great together.
