1 out of 5 eggsFaulty Power Supply

Pros: USB 3.0, SATA

Cons: Constant disconnects during even the smallest of file transfers. No disconnects while the drive is idle. The disconnects appear to be due to a faulty power supply (model: SPP34-12.0/5.0-200). Guys, when you take the lead out, replace it with something that works.

Also, the BT-380 could benefit from a SATA extension cable or extended connector. I have to remove smaller drives from any caddies to pull data, this extra step takes time.

Other Thoughts: This is replacing a BT-300 USB 2.0 drive mate workhorse which finally died after years of use and abuse. I was able to re-use the old BT-300 power supply (model: FLY36-5-12) to get the BT-380 working, for now. I'm still only giving 1 star as not everyone will have this option. The cost to ship it back makes an RMA cost prohibitive. I've also got another BT-300 ordered which hopefully will not come bundled with the same faulty power supply.

5 out of 5 eggsdrive size

Pros: has standard power connector

Cons: Bytecc web site says
"Support SATA HDD up to 2000GB(2TB) "
Is this a hardware limit or only the known Windows XP limit?

Other Thoughts: I'd rather not have a backup button

4 out of 5 eggsAs Advertises

Pros: Works as advertised: great transfer rate and easy to use. I've been using Bytecc for years for my backup and file transfer needs.

Yeah, be careful plugging in the power cord.

Cons: None really. Read the instructions.

1 out of 5 eggsbe very carefull

Pros: no pros

Cons: Be very carefull pluging in the ac adapter. It will go in just as easy backwards as it does the right way.. Backwards will fry anything from the drive to the entire computer.. Wish I had never bought this item..
I did not get it from NewEgg so I do not blame them for it. This was bought at Frys.

2 out of 5 eggsWould have been great....

Pros: usb 3 and sata connectivity in a compact and portable form. great for data transfers. cheap.

Cons: every drive and computer i tried this failed to transfer properly. The drives would cease to be recognized and then be re-detected by windows as if they had been unplugged and reinserted. This would happen after several gigs of transfer and happened the same with every drive. I am concluding that this cable is faulty or that the driver is junk.

Other Thoughts: no conclusive evidence either way, however, this problem renders the cable practically useless. Tried with both sata and sata 2 drives, and two different usb3 computers. didnt try with usb 2 connections.
