1 out of 5 eggsCompletely Worthless

Pros: None.

Cons: Tried to get this working with 3 different drives on two different computers, one Windows 7 and one Windows 8.1. Each detected a USB device being connected, but never recognized the drive. Not even BIOS/UEFI saw it as a USB device.

Other Thoughts: Caused device manager to continually refresh the device tree, which leads me to believe there is a problem with the USB implementation on this device.

1 out of 5 eggsSlow and fried

Pros: None

Cons: Lasted less than 1 1/2 yrs and slow when it did work. Yesterday the adapter fried and abruptly shut down my laptop. I'm going back to the trusty usb 2.0 adapter I had before switching jobs.

1 out of 5 eggsNo smoke, but not reliable

Pros: Slightly faster than my similar USB 2.0 device, during the brief time that it works (perhaps 10 minutes at a time). Not much of a "pro", but it's the best I can think of.

Cons: Plugged into a USB 3.0 port, trying to copy about 20GB to or from a disk, it works for a short time and then disconnects. This happens every time, and with either SATA or IDE disks. I tried the same SATA disk with a Rosewill 3.0 docking station and it worked fine, and both the SATA and IDE disks worked fine with a Sabrent USB 2.0 to SATA/IDE adapter. I tried the BT-350 on a USB 2.0 port and the speed dropped to perhaps 5% of the speed of the other USB 2.0 device.

Other Thoughts: I didn't get any smoke. I notice that the power adapter can be plugged in backwards almost as easily as forwards, so I had to be really careful not to plug it in backwards. If somebody uses the time-honoured technique of "Try it one way, if it doesn't fit try it the other way" something bad will probably happen.

I contacted BYTECC and was told that the ones returned to them had been damaged by plugging in the power incorrectly, which I believe. I reported the reliability problem and didn't hear back.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY

Pros: USB 3

Cons: Power Brick fried, destroying 2 of my USB ports, the Harddrive, and the usb dongle that was plugged into the other port. DO NOT BUY IT WILL FRY YOUR STUFF.

Other Thoughts: Will never trust this company again.

1 out of 5 eggsBT-350

Pros: Good Idea

Cons: purchased a BT-350 2 days ago and am using it for the first time today everything was fine the first time I used it but the second time I was in the middle if transferring some backup files from my server and after approximately ¼ of the way through I noticed a burning smell and when I looked over at the BT-350 it had smoke pouring out of it I unplugged it as fast as I could and it did stop so I could return the unit to the store but now I am unable to access the files on my hard drive and the drive will not spin up even when using a PC power supply.

Other Thoughts: DANGER STAY AWAY

1 out of 5 eggsDont be brave and foolish

Pros: Great advertised product. Makes one a 'believer' in just how this product could be both convenient and efficient.

Cons: This is horrible. It not only started to melt and smoke but It fried several components on the back of my ASUS AM3 motherboard and killed my Seagate hard drive that I was connecting it to.

Other Thoughts: Now I have to RMA my motherboard and this poorly designed product. Im also 'out' a very important hard drive with valuable data on it. Oh well. Don't be brave and purchase this product. It'll make a fool out of you...-as it did me!(self critique here)

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not work properly

Pros: If it worked, it would be great to have USB3 speed.

Cons: I could not get this to function properly. The USB connector seems to have issues or something. I would plug it in, and half the time nothing would happen. I would try repeatedly and then sometimes it would come on, but only at USB1 speed, which is ungodly slow. Tried many USB ports, USB2 and USB3, none of them would work reliably and usually not at all.

Other Thoughts: It's really a shame, as I REALLY want and need something like this, but this device just does not work reliably and has me afraid to try anything else from this company, especially reading the other review about how it fried his USB3 card.

1 out of 5 eggsFRIED MY HARD DRIVE AND USB3 CARD!

Pros: Convenience of parts being all in one.

Cons: Fried my USB3 Asus U3S6 Card. My os detected a surge on one of the usb ports, then the usb ports weren't working anymore. Saw my nice usb3 card was killed.

Other Thoughts: such a shame, I really wanted this to work, now I have to replace my customers dead hard drive.
