5 out of 5 eggsDoes What It's Supposed To

Pros: Easily sends a Displayport signal to a DVI display. Works reliably. Priced right.
Solved the problem of not having a second DVI port on my new GPU. Works with no apparent side issues.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I recently built a new workstation that includes a Titan X GPU, which has only one DVI port. I was concerned that I would have no way to connect my DVI switchbox and DVI projector to this new card. After researching Displayport to DVI conversion, I learned about this cable. I tried it, somewhat skeptical that it would work, but it works perfectly, just as if my projector were connected to a DVI port on my prior GPU. The cable is a "problem solver".

5 out of 5 eggsGood passive adapter

Pros: It's a passive DisplayPort to DVI adapter. These are much cheaper than the active converters, but require DisplayPort++ on your computer.

It seems to lock securely in place once plugged in.

Cons: Not an active adapter. Can't attach multiple monitors to one DisplayPort with a hub or daisychain with this.

The DVI end seems a tight fit on this ViewSonic monitor I have it attached to. Not a big deal, as I believe it's a fault in the monitor's design.

Other Thoughts: There is a review for this type of adapter that says the user was not able to unplug the adapter from his computer and ended up destroying it in the process. I have a response for that problem, in caps so it will be easier to spot:

YOU MUST SQUEEZE THE CONNECTOR TO UNLOCK IT. I guess it would have been simpler if the connector said "push" in small letters, but the makers of this adapter assumed that we would be able to figure it out.

Also, some reviewers say it just plain doesn't work with their setup. Not sure if this is the problem, but if you don't have DisplayPort++, then you need an active adapter. This is a passive adapter.

That said, I like this adapter so far. It lets me attach a second monitor to my laptop. Now I have one D-sub and one DVI monitor at work.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Adapter

Pros: It works. Not too stiff of a cable, and not too flimsy it seems like it will break. Nice and long.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: It's a cable, and it converts my DisplayPort to the DVI on my monitor nicely for a 3-way surround monitor setup. Nuff said.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Plenty long enough for desktops stowed under a desk.

Cons: Unfortunately my unit was damaged in shipping and I had to return it.

3 out of 5 eggsNot Active

Pros: Arrived fast, as always with Newegg. Works for a single monitor.

Cons: My fault I didn't read ATI's specifications for Eyefinity. ATI spec says the Display Port adapter must be active to support three monitors. This adapter is not active and will not support Eyefinity w/ 3 monitors.

Also plastic knobs on the screws to lock down the DVI end are cheap and spin on the screws, preventing you from tightening them.

Other Thoughts: Ordering the right one now.
