4 out of 5 eggsSpecs on StarTech omit details

Pros: Using SwitchResX, somehow it will support 2560x1440@60hz (my display says "use a dual link DVI cable" but it displays a signal and the input information says 60Hz). I don't know how this even works, since this is a single link connection and should only support it at 30Hz, which doesn't even work on my display.
Works at the suggested 1920x1080 resolution (Couldn't test 1200 because of aspect ratio)

Cons: StarTech's specifications for this cable says it supports 2560x1440 (without specifying a refresh rate), but I couldn't get my computer (MacBook Air) to output that without resorting to trickery (direct DP connection worked fine). It appears that on *my* LCD (pb278q), if you drive the DVI port at HDMI 1.3 pixel clock speeds (340 Mhz, doesn't seem standard) this will somehow work, but only with third party software. I would NOT bank on this working on any other monitor or even using it for extended periods.

Other Thoughts: Basically, not plug & play, particularly on a Mac, if you believe StarTech's advertised resolutions. Stick with what Newegg says this will do: 1920x1200.

Pros: -Length
-Single cable rather than an adapter and dvi cable
-Price

Cons: aside from being solid white and sticking out like a sore thumb behind my tower, nothing I can think of. There's a solid black version, but wasn't with the extra money to me.
