What if you have a HDMI-capable display on one side of the room and you need to connect it to a 1080p media source on the other side of the room, or even in another room? The Arkview HDMI-EXTC is the solution.

With 2 separate units, the HDMI-EXTC will let you extend HD video/audio signals by up to 100 feet using two Cat5e or Cat6 cables, providing an inexpensive way to transmitting HDMI signals while still being able to retain the same HDMI quality that you would expect with a directly connected display. There's no need for software installation or configuration, so setup is completely Plug-n-Play. It fully supports 1080p data loads and is HDMI 1.3b compliant. The 2.25Gbps max transfer rate eliminates one possible bottleneck that can ruin a good picture.

A cost-effective solution for home or business, the HDMI-EXTC is a perfect set of hardware to extend HDMI capabilities.

  • newegg Extends Signal over CAT5e/6 Cables The Arkview HDMI Extender extends HD video/audio signal through two low-cost CAT5e or CAT6 cables, eliminating the exorbitant cost of long HDMI cable runs.
  • newegg Supplies 1080p Signals over Long Distances The Arkview HDMI Extender can handle resolutions up to 1080p at up to 100 feet and 480p up to 200 feet.
  • newegg Plug and Play Installing the Arkview HDMI Extender is plug and play - simply place local transmitting unit next to your HD source such as a Blu-ray Disc player or game console, place the remote receiver unit next to your HD display, then connect CAT5e or CAT6 and you are done.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect Device

Pros: I've had this device for over a month now. I haven't had any problems at all. I have a 1080P signal running at 60Hhz over 150 FT with perfect quality.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Totally worth the money. I've tried cheaper extenders where the signal would cut out. I haven't had a single problem with this one.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't Waste Your Money

Pros: Purchased three of these things over the past year. Very good picture transmitted over about 50 feet of CAT5E cable. Easy installation. Plug and play.

Cons: Every single one of the three units that I've purchased over the last year has dies within 3 to 6 months of installation.

Other Thoughts: The price might be right, but if you want something that lasts more than a few months, spend the extra money and get something that will last.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes NOT Work On Long Runs

Pros: Metal enclosures look nice, but that's all.

Cons: Product does not work at 100' of Cat 5e. It does work at 10' so at least the sender/receiver were connected correctly when using the labelled ports, and the power does go on the receiver end.

Other Thoughts: My first issue was I ordered an Arkview product and received something labelled Sabrent. Anyone who does a search on this product made by Sabrent will find they either work well or not at all. Already I'm thinking there's a quality problem.

I installed this at our manufacturing plant to display a shop floor image from a PC located in our server room. The Cat 5e cabling used to connect was pre-installed spare network cabling run through conduit. Total length of all the up and down bends is 100'. Each end is properly teminated with an RG45 male connector, and each cable was confirmed to be continuous by connecting a laptop on the shop end and connecting to our network on the other end. The video source we tried is a static computer image at 1920x1080 resolution, adapted from a DVI port to an HDMI cable. All I could display was a black screen. 10' cables worked fine. It seems I have one that will not work, so it's time to cut my losses and buy something different.

1 out of 5 eggsExpensive Garbage

Pros: None.

Cons: Bought 3 of these for a multi-display project. Used quality Cat6 cable of 75ft lengths. Absolutely nothing but black on displays at 480p, 720p, and 1080p. None of them worked. Tried other cables also. My thinking is these are not being tested in China (surprise) and newegg is stuck holding a bunch of bad units.

Other Thoughts: It's been more than 30 days since I received these as I paid for what I thought were better than average units. Thus I'm a bag holder and out $120. A bought a different make/model $17 unit I from another source and it works incredibly well at multiple resolutions and doesn't require a power supply.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Working flawlessly with 2 50 foot CAT6 cables (without the power connected).

Support got back to me within 3 minutes!

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Make sure you buy 2 ethernet cables.
Follow the instructions for this. If you dont hook the cables up in the proper order you can have problems. My screen was flickering untill I broke it down and reconnected.

4 out of 5 eggsstill works after 1.5 years

Pros: Still works after one and a half years. I am using it as an extension for my second monitor. When I used it as my first monitor with DVI adapters I had to plug the CAT cables out and in to fix the picture. But now as my second monitor I use it from the Mac Pro to the Extender to a Samsung in 1080p. Works perfectly.

Cons: As main monitor with DVI adapters had to unplug and plug back in. But that is probably the DVI HDMI conversion incompatibility. Not a strong negative.

5 out of 5 eggsworks very well thus far

Pros: Running 1080p 75+ feet over Cat 5e with no signal quality issues to 42" and 73" TV's. Receive-side power does not seem to be even necesary for runs under 70 feet or so much of the time.

Cons: They run pretty hot, especially the receive-side when using power, so I expect to see some heat-related failures with these thngs over time, but hopefully we get some years of service before they give up the ghost. Running two Cat 5 cables per extender is a pain, but I think that these 2-cable, powered designs are superior from a signal quality and distance perspective, so it's worth the cabling hassle.

Other Thoughts: We bought a bunch of these to go from PC's using ATI Radeon 6850's to some TV montors on the other side of a security control room. We are going from the DVI ports on the video cards, using HDMI converters and 3 ft HDMI cables into the send-side of the Arkviews, to Cat 5e patch cables to the wall-plates, through the walls and over the drop ceiling over Cat 5e plenum wire, into the Arkview receive side on the other end, and finally into 6 ft HDMI cables to the TV's. The amazing thing is that it works and works well. Have not tried runs over 100 feet, but working well under 100 thus far.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Easy to install and works great.

Cons: The only hard part of the installation was running the 2 CAT5 cables from the satellite box to the remote tvs. If you run the CAT5 yourself, you will need a CAT5 crimper and CAT5 connectors.

Other Thoughts: I have 2 of these that I am using to send a satellite signal to 2 tvs in different parts of my house. It works great and the picture quality is great on the tvs. Both remote tvs are 32" LCD.

5 out of 5 eggsCheap and it works

Pros: Works great and much less expensive than other units of this type. I am pushing 1080p over 70 cable feet with no degradation. I don't even need the external power adapter.

Cons: None
