1 out of 5 eggsMelted my cord

Pros: It worked for a little while...

Cons: One day, I was doing some work at home and decided I'd watch some TV episodes off of my external hard drive. Well, after about 6-7 hours, I went to shut everything down and noticed that the adapter was really hot and had melted the end of my new eSATA cable (the housing around the connector on the end). Now, I can't use my hard drive and I'm not sure if it's the adapter or the melted cord that is dead.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with WHS

Pros: Simple way to hook up Esata drive to Usb port. Came with a short cable. The cable plugs into the Usb port and the adapter into the cable. This keeps the larger adapter away from the computer body. Usb ports are close together and the adapter would use one port and block the adjcent one without the cable.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I have a 4 port Esata drive enclosure and my HP Ex485 has one Esata port and 4 Usb ports. This lets me hook the some of the drives into the Usb ports.

4 out of 5 eggsWorked for me

Pros: Convenient, Small, Bus Powered, Easy. Plug and Play.

Cons: Relatively Expensive for what it does

Other Thoughts: Don't know why the other user couldn't get this to work. I've had 2 of these powering hard drives 24x7 for over a year off a USB hub. Perhaps his or her hub was underpowered? These guys suck up 5v each... per the specs on this page.
