5 out of 5 eggsSATA Cable

Pros: The cable was a perfect fit in my HP Envy 700-010xt for the second of three internal hard drive bays. I am going to order another for the number three bay.

Cons: No cons.

1 out of 5 eggsFaulty

Pros: Sata 3 rated.

Cons: bought 8, first three, two would not work and the other one striped off the connector when trying to remove. The metal latch will not depress far enough to allow the cable to release properly.

Other Thoughts: Also purchased a several "other brand" cables and they work great. The snap in place securely without the metal clip and do not fall apart. I wonder how many bad MB's and DOA disk drives are due to bad cables? I removed the Nippon Labs for fear one was shorting out the controller. The connectors are just press fitted together, whereas the "other red brand" cables are fully molded. Cables are part of a 5 disk raid 6 server.

3 out of 5 eggsNo snaps

Pros: It works

Cons: If your hardware was not designed to make use of the latching mechanism, these cables will fit loosely and fall off because they do not have the little plastic nub inside that older SATA connectors snap onto

Other Thoughts: As a temporary fix, i just used some tape to hold them in place till i could get some different cables

5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Be sure to look at Neweggs Pics to comfirm correct angle as there seems to be no standard on right or left angle configuration... I can Pull 550+mbps through these, so they really are sataIII @ 6g speed capable:)

Cons: See above..

Other Thoughts: see above..

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the job

Pros: While I don't have SATA III on my system, my previous cables presented a formatting problem when I upgraded my media drive to a SATA III WD Cav.Green 2TB. I bought two of these cables and both work well/solved my problem.

I have not seen any significant AVG Read increase/Burst rate increase with these cables, but even on a SATA II header HD Tune Pro shows a 5-10 MB/s better throughput per drive than my old no-name cables.

Of note: My one WD Cav.Blue SATA II drive DID show marked performance increase all around: AVG Read +20MB/s, Burst Rate +30 MB/s.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Really wish all manufactures would transition to round cable design. Flat is nice for planar routing, but no system I've ever built/worked upon has ever been 100% planar, 90* bends along the major axis have been necessary and make flat design inefficient.

5 out of 5 eggsflat

Pros: Well as the name states FLAT cable. They are flat and they are cables. Changed from the Yellow cables Biostar supplied with their A780U3 MoBo

Cons: I HAVE to write something so here goes. They didn't come with a MoBo attached to them......Or a high end DVD player on the other side.

Other Thoughts: Great looking and work VERY well

4 out of 5 eggsThe Photo represents the product

Pros: Its alright.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The "angle" issue whether its right or left hand seems to have some confusion in the SATA data cable business. There does not seem to be a standard notation. This part is like it shows in the photo. I also purchased an OKGEAR that was designated as Left hand (N82E16812123282), but the photo showed a mirror image of the angled end from this part. The OKGEAR part was like shown in the OKGEAR photo. I have purchased only a few items from Newegg, but their photos so far have accurately represented the products.
As an engineer, I prefer to describe an item based upon its own characteristics, not how it is actually used. The standard designation should be based upon what one sees while holding it their hand. Although in this case, referencing its use with a hard drive was useful. Like some others, I used the angled end to plug into a mother board socket and not into a device.

5 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: Easy to use. Cheap. L angled

Cons: Broke one of the snapper clips. Actually they pop off easily. But, its a cheap cable. Use your mobo cables unless your case wont close because of them blocking. Thats why I got these. You dont need sata III unless you have a sata III ssd.
