1 out of 5 eggsWorthless, Connection Fails

Pros: It's 10 feet long.

Cons: I used this cable to connect to an external hard drive
enclosure. Connection frequently fails and the external
drives disappear from windows. This makes the product
useless.

1 out of 5 eggsWorthless

Pros: None

Cons: I have 2 external USB 3.0 dirves that were connected with COBOC 6 ft cables (also from NewEgg) that always worked. I wanted to be able to move the drives and needed longer cables to do this. I bought 3 of these cables thinking they would work just as well.

The cables simply do NOT work. The drives power up when these cables are connected but they are not recognized by Windows 7. I tried all 3 cables on both drives and none of them worked. I used the same USB 3.0 ports as with the 6ft cables.

I went back to the 6ft cables and everything is working again. It's not worth returning the cables given the shipping cost.

Other Thoughts: These Nippon 10ft cables are considerably thinner than the 6ft COBOC cables. Perhaps some corners were cut in their construction?

I tried 3 of these cables so it's not as if I got a bad one from a batch.
***Stay away from these. You have been warned.***

1 out of 5 eggsThe cause of much frustration and waste of time

Pros: Well, it works at USB 2.0 speeds.

Cons: I bought a USB 3.0 card, dock, and this cable and have spent HOURS trying to get USB 3.0 speeds. At first I thought it was the ASUS PCI card, that the drivers were bad, or it wasn't compatible with my 790i Ultra motherboard. I only got USB 2.0 speeds with my setup (36 mb/s), I searched online for the problem and read that sometimes if the cable isn't secure you will not get 3.0 speeds. So I used the cable that came with the PCI card, and what do you know it worked (USB 3.0 at 76 mb/s for 7200rpm drive)!!

Other Thoughts: Maybe they have fixed the cables by now, but all I know is this stupid $6 cable cost me hours of troubleshooting and months without USB 3.0. It could be said it's my fault for not figuring it out sooner, but I never thought a simple cable could be the culprit.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's a cable

Pros: It's a cable. It works. As far as compatible, the previous reviewer obviously didn't know what he was talking about. This cable will connect a 3.0 peripheral to any USB host. The device end is not what makes it compatible, it's the host end.

Cons: none

3 out of 5 eggsCompatible?

Pros: No, I'm not really going to write a review of a cable...

Cons: B-end doesn't fit standard USB B socket.

Other Thoughts: The writeup says "Compatible with USB specifications 1.0, 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0"
However, if you look carefully at the photo, you can see that the B-end connector is some kind of weird hybrid of a standard B and what appears to be a mini B stacked on top of it.

It won't fit into any B-socket that I have ever seen, and in particular, not the one I bought it for. (for a USB hub) Maybe that's the standard for USB 3.0 - I don't know - but I would not call it compatible with USB 1.0, 1.1 or 2.0.

I thought a USB cable was a USB cable. Wish I'd looked at the picture more carefully. Live and learn.
