1 out of 5 eggsSignal problems

Pros: It worked for a while.

Cons: I have 2 of these cables that developed the same problem over time: Errors with transfers to external hard disk enclosures. I'm running USB 2 on the cables and even then they cause problems. Hard disks will click loudly like the drive is unable to read/write a sector. The drives work fine in PCs, and with another brand cable.

I've always treated the cables well. They've sat on a desk when not in use, coiled up. They are barely uncoiled when connecting the laptop to the USB drive.

It took me weeks to figure out that the problem was the cable and not the drive, enclosure, or software. After everything else, replacing the cable eliminated all problems with the drives.

I know this sounds crazy, I too never expected the cable to be the problem. After 25 years in IT this is the first time I've ever had ANY USB cable give me any sort of problems.

New Egg sells a similar cable that looks identical, but, has been working fine for a week. Maybe that will change after a year as well. I hope not.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk - Stay away

Pros: as USB2.0 cable they seem to work.

Cons: As USB3.0 cable they Fail. Something is not right with these cables. Bought 3 of them, 2 of them are so bad if i plug the cable into my USB3.0 port it shuts off all devices on the other ports. i tested mice, usb sticks, ect and my USB3.0 ports are fine. these cables are worthless.
Test on - Asus Maximus Gene-Z motherboard onboard and front panel headers.

5 out of 5 eggsWork great for the price

Pros: Works great with Vantec NexStar CX SuperSpeed 2.5" SATA to USB 3.0 External Hard Drive/SSD Enclosure

Cons: Not top of the line, but I knew that when I purchased them.

Other Thoughts: I've seen reviews that they don't work except with USB 2.0. It is not the cable, it's the motherboard or controller. I have two motherboards with USB 3.0 (first generation) and they can't provide enough power for the longer cable, therefore they don't work. Newer motherboards work just fine. (I hate that about USB, but those are the breaks).

1 out of 5 eggsOrder 2 and both don't work at USB 3.0

Pros: None, they don't work, only in USB 2.0 mode

Cons: Plugged these into USB 3.0 jacks on 3 different computers and it doesn't work on any of them in 3.0 mode. Devices plugged into it (I tried 4 different USB 3.0 devices), do not work at all. If I switch it to a USB 2.0 port then they work, but in USB 2.0 speed. The devices work fine plugged directly into the USB 3.0 port, so definitely something with the cables. I bought 2 and have the same problem with both.

Other Thoughts: Should have read the reviews better, most of the positive reviews, people didn't even use. Why write a review if you didn't use it.

5 out of 5 eggsGood build quality

Pros: It's got the good kind of jacketing, not sure what it's called but it's the stuff that's pliable enough you can get the cable into place and around fairly sharp corners but it's not so soft that it rips/tears when carelessly dragging it over the sharp corner of a desk. Seems like it'll last.

Cons: None - it's good quality, it has two (count them!) ends on it and electrons zip right through it with alacrity. What's not to like about that?
