1 out of 5 eggsJUNK

Pros: Worked perfect for about 3 times.

Cons: On about the 4th time of using it, I plugged it in and it forced my system in to sleep mode. When it awoke up, it crashed a project I was working on for days and I lost a ton of work. I had to wiggle the usb cord for it to recognize and when it finally did, the auto play pop up became unresponsive. As I unplugged the usb cord, I noticed how cheap the plastic housing was. It literally fell apart as I was holding it. The inside solder points looked ok and the small chip was fine so I lifted up the chip to see the underside and it snapped like a potato chip. I bought this on a daily deal so it wasn't too much of a loss but I can't believe how fast this thing broke and how cheap the snap on plastic housing is. I am livid because I need it right now. I won't buy this same one again that's for sure...

Other Thoughts: I have never been so angry at an inanimate object before. If I thought it would do any good, I would punch it right in the mouth.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing and Amazingly Effective

Pros: * Essentially bonds two independent Windows PCs, allowing them to operate as 1 dual-display desktop, as LAN connected separate PCs, and in other variations.
* Works as advertised: Tested with (combos of each below)
- Windows 8.1 Pro w/Media Center (32-bit)
- Windows 8.1 (64-bit)
- Windows 7 Home Premium (32-bit)
- Windows 7 Enterprise (64-bit)
* Able to tether any recent iteration of Windows to any other recent version of WIndows
* (Almost) Plug and play - provided AutoPlay for USB devices is enabled, you simply have to click okay to the prompt on each PC and you're up and running
* KVM+ - Not only does it work as a traditional KVM switch, allowing you to share a mouse/keyboard across two PCs, but it also allows you to Copy + Paste across devices
* Easily configurable, with KVM and sharing functions ready on the fly via the notification icon (right click to change)

Cons: * Commentors decrying the inability to work with Mac/OSX - there is a different version of this product specifically for that! Search for the JUC300 or JUC500 version instead.
* USB 2.0 (not 3.0)

Other Thoughts: This has become "my secret little helper" more and more each day. Anyone who interacts with more than a single Windows PC in their life (i.e., a desktop + laptop/tablet, home and work computers, etc.) has known the burden of having to move data or settings from one PC to the other. This device makes those old hassles a total breeze by comparison.

I had two of these and gave one to someone in dire need of a KVM, but now I'm wishing that I hadn't (yet), as I am uncertain if these can be daisy-chained. Should have tried that first......

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent products, works as advertised.

Pros: Works exactly as described. I've never had any problem getting it to work. Truly is a plug-n-play device. The cord is quite long.
Makes me laptop into a third, isolated, monitor for my desktop setup.

Cons: None that I can think of, maybe the transfer speed for files is a little slow, but that's being picky.

Other Thoughts: A must-have for anybody who works, or plays, with two computers at once.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat KM switch!

Pros: Needed a new KM switch for my home computer (desktop) and my work laptop. I've been using a Trendnet TK-209 for years but it has always been a little buggy and between the cords and box, it takes up a lot of real estate. After having another problem with the TK-209, I decided to give the J5create JUC100 a try and I couldn't be happier. Instant KM switching between my keyboard and mouse (Alt+S) and its a simple USB cord, no more bulky box and cords! I have tried all of the software solutions but my company has locked down those options. A hardware solution was my only option.

Cons: No problems so far but I've only had it for a few days.

Other Thoughts: I have not tried sharing files between my computers so I can't comment on that feature. I primary bought this as a KM switch and that feature works very well.

2 out of 5 eggsUSB to USB with integrated firmware

Pros: -Does what it says

Cons: -Slow Speeds
-Need to install software and run it to copy files

Other Thoughts: I mostly purchased this to transfer files to pcs that I couldn't hook up to my network. The speeds of this thing are so slow, I was better off just purchasing an external hard drive and copying everything to that, then to the other pc. Do not purchase unless it is on the shell shocker again.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastically helpful tool, if you need it

Pros: Nice long cord
Built-in software
Built-in drivers
Data sharing (through right click->copy clipboard)

Cons: Might not work until drivers are installed

Other Thoughts: What can I say about this fantastic thing? It's basically a KVM minus the V... it lets you share the keyboard and mouse through 1 cord.

Fantastic for repairing PCs while using a monitor with dual inputs, use DVI for the "doctor" and VGA for the "patient" and switch systems with one click. It's like a KVM box minus all the tangly cables.

Even better if you're using two monitors side by side, you can switch systems by moving offscreen like single multi-monitor setup. Also great for a laptop being used for on-site repair, no more switching off mouse and keyboard.

Appears as a CD-ROM which allows it to auto-install drivers and optional software, each end is a separate device and flash-upgradeable. Once drivers are installed it acts like regular USB peripherals, so you can even use it in BIOS.

Allows sharing the copy-paste clipboard, which is invaluable for troubleshooting and allows you to use it as a data transfer cable.

Construction is nothing special, sturdy enough, each end is the size of a large thumb drive with a blinking blue light on power and data transfer.

Built-in (and optional) software has few functions but they're powerful, with the ability to use mouse scrolling to switch PCs, or your choice of hotkeys (middle mouse click is a good one).

If you fix PCs, or have multiple systems, you'll want one of these in your tool-kit.. and another for home!

5 out of 5 eggsI wasted so much money buying expensive KVMs, this is so smooth.

Pros: So far this works great, I'm able to work between work laptop (win 7) and home laptop (win 7) acting as file transferring device and kvm. I wonder if they make something like this wireless if they do that would be sweet.

Cons: While acting as KVM for keyboard and mouse, the other computer with keyboard and mouse plug-in would need to be on.

5 out of 5 eggsCool - Limited Linux

Pros: Cool, works as advertised, easiest way to transfer files between internal hard drives on two computers. Actually DOES work with Windows8 to Linux Xubuntu - as long as the "host" computer (COMPUTER A) is Windows and the other (COMPUTER B) is Linux (including moving data files, music, video,etc.).

Cons: No Linux-to-Linux functionality.

Other Thoughts: Cool, space saver, unclutter.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing must have device

Pros: Eliminates desktop clutter and scrambling around.
Eliminates plugging and unplugging of USB sticks.
Saves valuable time.
Best thought out installation procedure ever (self installs).

Cons: Wish they would make it to work with 3 pc's.
Will not clean my monitor when it gets dusty.

Other Thoughts: Did not use it right away, waited a month after it was delivered. Should have plugged it in first day.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This thing is amazing. It works on Win7 Home & Pro, 32 & 64-bit. Everybody who has tried it is amazed, also.

You plug it in and let it install its software, and it works. It is about fool-proof. I have recommended it to several people, and nobody has come to me with any problems.

It also works across multiple monitors. I have three monitors on the host, and it works on the left or right. The mouse moves from the last host monitor to the attached laptop, and it moves to the correct side of the laptop. The transition is seamless for the mouse and keyboard.

Somebody told me they tried it with an external monitor on the laptop, but it did not work.

The drag & drop to copy files works well, but the files are moving over a USB2 connection. It eliminates copying files using a USB thumb drive.

The clipboard feature is useful when working on documents between computers.

When removed, it will ask if you want it to uninstall itself from the computer. If you do not uninstall the first time, you will need to use "Add/Remove Programs".

Cons: File transfers are at USB2 speeds, but this is a USB limit. Most of the file transfers I do are under 100Mb, and they seem as fast as most USB2 transfers.

It is not a replacement for all KVM setups.

NOTE: The connected computer is not a shared monitor. You cannot drag a window from one connected computer to the other like you can between multiple monitors. This is not designed to do this, but if it is what you want, you will need a different product.

Other Thoughts: I know many non-tech savvy people, and this is plug-and-play for them. I usually try to stay away from recommending something that may be helpful. Almost always, I will need to support them installing and using my recommendations. Hence, I rarely recommend anything.

I have recommended it to people who use a laptop & desktop, or to people who want to occasionally share files - husband/wife, parents/children, children/children. They want something as simple as Facebook, email, etc., and this is perfect for them.

I use it when I need to work on a computer. In my office, I can connect their laptop to my computer, or in the field, I can connect my laptop to their computer. While downloading or installing on their machine, I can still get work done on mine.

Other than the Windows Administrator prompts, there are no network security hurdles. For the non-tech savvy, this is a major reason why it is easy. For me, it makes connecting in a corporate environment easy.

This is not be the best solution for everybody, but for what it does, it is about as close to perfect as I have found.

There is a Mac-to-Mac and Mac-to-PC version, but I have no experience with them.
