5 out of 5 eggsAmazing!

Pros: It works flawlessly. Very easy to set up (plug and play).

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Primary PC is Win8x64 has dual displays and secondary is a Win7x32 single display. Worked great right out of the box.

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work with iPad (as advertised it does)

Pros: Seems to work with Macs and Windows most of the time.

Cons: Doesn't work as advertised with iPad, i.e. false advertising. Support has taken over a year to do anything about itl, still not fixed. Won't respond to request for money back due to not working as advertised.

Other Thoughts: SUMMARY: If you need a device like this that is iPad compatible, they falsely advertise that it is, DO NOT BUY THIS DEVICE!

Bought one of these a couple years ago now. It worked great... at first. It did what it said it would, was compatible with Mac and Windows, and iPad. The kinda neat thing about this is that once you plug it in it goes out and searches for updates automatically, I thought, "Terrific!" Well, one of these updates broke the compatibility with my iPad, and now, when I plug it into either of my iPads with varying versions, it says "... iPad not compatible with this device..."

Ok, so someone programmed in a bug into the Wormhole software and forget to test it on an listed compatible device, the iPad. I can see that happening. It's been nearly a year since the day of writing this, and they still haven't fixed it! I wrote to them probably between 15 and 20 times, and was working with a guy with J5 Create who was great and was taking the time to get the developers to come up with a fix. I received one "special" patch from him, tried it, still didn't work. I let him know and he said he would make sure the developers would come out with a proper fix.

A few weeks later, still waiting... Wrote a few more times, he said should be here soon... A few weeks later, I wrote again, "Any news?" Reply, "I no longer work for J5 Create, try the support." I have written to several different email addresses and their web support page, all I get is the same thing, it should be compatible... Well, it's not!

I last asked if I could have my money refunded as they are now falsely advertising that the JUC400 is compatible with the iPad, which it is not. I have written a couple of times now, they have still not replied. What else is J5 lying about? I now have no recourse other than telling people to avoid this device on public posts.

5 out of 5 eggsj5create JUC 400 - convenience at an ok price

Pros: Works as advertised for me. Instead of the inconvenience of juggling two keyboards and mice to control two computers, you just plug this device into a spare USB port on each machine and share one mouse and keyboard between both. In use, it's almost as seamless as having two monitors as an extended display on one computer. You can designate which display is on the left or right, or top/bottom, and moving the cursor across the boundary will transfer control to the other machine. If this behavior is not desired, for example if you are gaming, you can make the switch occur by limiting it to a keyboard shortcut i.e. Alt+S, or temporarily disable it. Overhead is low; it only takes 13MB of memory, and CPU usage registers at 0% in task manager.
The clipboard copy/paste function works well with both the Windows clipboard, and for file transfers, even if you don't have a network set up.

Cons: Certain programs, when they are in the active window (i.e. in focus), seem to disable the switch screen ability, eg. task manager for one.
Keyboard and mouse should be plugged into the same machine, otherwise the keyboard will only work on the PC it is connected to.
Gaming mouse software, such as macros (at least for my Roccat Kone XTD) will likewise only work on the machine it is directly connected to, which I can forgive as the second PC cannot "see" it as occupying one of its USB ports, and this is beyond the scope of the j5's intended use. It is emulating a plain vanilla mouse. The tilt wheel will also only scroll up/down instead of sideways on the second PC.
The same is true of multimedia/gaming keyboards, from what I have seen, eg. volume controls etc. only work on the connected PC.

Other Thoughts: Despite the minor nitpicks above, the j5create JUC 400 does work as intended. It allows full use of your mouse/keyboard on the host PC, and will give basic functionality on a second PC without the inconvenience and clutter of a second mouse and keyboard. I am using this device on two Windows 8.1 machines, but it should also work with Macs and iPads.
Cable length is 1.8m, i.e 5' 9" - not too long, but adequate.
It delivers as promised, and for a reasonable price, so I am giving it 5 eggs.

4 out of 5 eggsSlick item for your bag of tricks

Pros: Very easy set up and fast fast fast for quick transfers and backups. Easier than a external double transfer and simpler than a network transfer. Very useful if you help friends and family with their data organization.

Cons: Not USB 3.0. No Linux support.

Other Thoughts: Wondering if they can be daisy chained for a ad-hoc, impromptu network type of data share?

2 out of 5 eggsHmmm....

Pros: Packaged nice. Installed on XP SP3 no problem

Cons: Immediately crashed my Win 7 64bit Professional. Got BSOD and would reboot to reboot to BSOD each time. I did a system restore to get working again. reinserted the wormhole and installed the software. It immediately crashed the system with the same error but this time I could not get into safe mode. I had to restore using the recovery console from my disk.

Other Thoughts: Can't give it one egg because there is something on my system the software cannot play with. It did install on my old XP but I have not had the opportunity to test its functionality.
I had such high hopes for this but this is life

5 out of 5 eggsMake your note book aUSB Keyboard and Mouse.

Pros: These perform as advertised. Taking it a step further. I had a need for a USB keyboard while on site at a customer location. I was able to whip out my netbook and connect to the PntOfSale terminal via USB to the extent that I was able to hit the del key and make some changes to the BIOS before it event loaded the OS. Not something I planned on but what a great save.

Cons: Wasn't tested on the ISS.

Other Thoughts: You need to check out all the J5 Create products they think outside the box and phone.

I have used the Customer Service and they were great help.

4 out of 5 eggsj5create JUC 400

Pros: Once you figure out the method of operation its great

Cons: Small learning curve, please read instructions I'm one for jumping in and should know better.

Other Thoughts: One person asked about a problem with W/xp I have W/7
Might be the software... I'd ask the manufacture of the product. I've had no problems.

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't Work Anymore

Pros: Worked flawlessly for 8 months.
Super easy to install....plug and play.
Thought best thing since sliced bread...but beware.

Cons: Item just stopped working and no tech support.
Buy from a vendor that accepts returns!

Other Thoughts: When this item failed I loved it so much I just purchased a new one. Same problem occurred with the new one so contacted the tech support. Total joke as they were no help at all. I was initially told it was my Windows machine that was the problem since I could do Mac to Mac (Mavericks) no problem. So I tried my wife's windows 7 machine and same problem. Also the windows machines both have the window borders 'flash" with activity of polling and the curser shows busy at regular intervals. Unplug the cable problem gone. No screen sharing at all. I would pay for another one of these if I felt it would work.

After two weeks waiting on a return email I was finally told "I'm sorry but I have reached out to our engineering team several times with no resolution"

5 out of 5 eggsWorks on Windows 7

Pros: Works as advertised on Windows 7 machines. Can move mouse and keyboard back and forth between desktops with dual monitors and laptops. Copying files are also no problem.

Cons: When the machines goes to sleep, you have to shut down the program on the main machine (the one you're using the keyboard and mouse) and reactive the exe file again. Minor, but a pain.

Other Thoughts: Neat fast solution. I now don't need to plug in a regular keyboard with numeric pad to the notebook whenever I want to work with it.

5 out of 5 eggsA MUST HAVE!!!

Pros: super simple, super fast, and very useful, won't break the bank, good length

Cons: gets a little glitchy with Macs especially when they have different OS's but not worth an egg

Other Thoughts: I do A LOT of simple troubleshooting, data back-up and recovery, and maintenance. For a long time that meant a lot of pulling drives, or filling memory cards, or doing network transfers and so on and so on. None of these were hard but all of them were slower to setup and use than this one cord! I now use this as my go-to solution. Whether in the shop, hooked to the big bench machine, or on site connecting client workstations it is awesome and I have gotten more to hand out to friends and colleagues!
