5 out of 5 eggsRock Solid

Comments: This board along with a retail p4 makes an extremely stable and reliable low budget linux server. If you don't want to risk your data with cheap hardware, you gotta go intel. Sure you can save a few bucks with a no name motherboard. But if you're building a business system, this is how you prevent problems. 3 year warranty.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat microATX board

Comments: I put this board into an Antec Aria cas and all I have to say is this board is very very stable. So far I haven't had one bit of problem with it. One note I don't OverClock and I don't think this board is for you if you overclock.

5 out of 5 eggsMobo works great!

Comments: I got this mobo with the P4 Prescott 3.0E Ghz CPU! They work greta together. Gets a little warm in my small case at times, but I'm working on that right now. The only thing I didn't enjoy about the case is that it only has 3 PCI slots...but who cares. Not their fault. I also should have got a different one because I bought the ATI All In Wonder Graphics Card. So I didn't need the on board graphics, but hey..this mobo is great and I would suggest it to anybody!

5 out of 5 eggsNew Prescott CPU Capable

Comments: As with any motherboard, no matter which supplier you buy it from, ALWAYS check with the manufacturer to get the latest specs on the board you are interested in.

I checked with Intel and was surprised to learn that this board will accept not only ALL of the Northwood processors, it will accept the new Prescott chip with the "E" designation, the chips with the 1 megabyte level 2 cache in them.

For a small (microatx) form factor motherboard such as this, you will be hard pressed to find a better board for the price that you can get right here at Newegg.com.

The OEM board will be cheaper than the retail boxed boards but the retail boxed boards will have the CD with the latest bios and drivers but the buyers of the OEM boards will have to download the drivers and the latest bios directly from the manufacturer. As a suggestion, whether you buy an OEM board or a Retail Boxed board, ALWAYS check with the manufacturer to see if there is an update of the drivers and/or the bios. These can change daily sometimes.

Remember xxx (cover your xxx). I personally don't think you'll go wrong with this board. I really like it. If your money is tight, you can buy this board "refurbished" along with a 2.4C cpu (this has a 533 Mhz FSB and a 1 Mb level 2 cache) from NewEgg for less than $200.00 and you will be surprised at the preformance.

5 out of 5 eggsStability you can count on.

Comments: The Intel 865G Series is not going to be a favorite of the overclocking enthusiasts. Overclocking options in bios are almost non-existant.

This motherboard will appeal to the crowd that is willing to sacrifice some performance for stability, solid manufacturing, and an instruction booklet that isn't in broken engrish.

Memory timings are some of the few BIOS settings you can manipulate on this board. I was able to get a dual channel pair of Corsair XMS 3200 down to an aggressive timing of: 2-3-2-5.
Im sure I could have got them down to 2-2-2-5 if there were an option to boost the voltage, but there is no option in bios to do so.

Suffice to say, the timing that I did get is better than what the corsair website rates these at, which is: 2-3-2-6..

My benchmarks come in about 4% slower than a performance geared machine of similar hardware, however the machine is extremely stable.

If you are wanting to build a machine where stability is the top priority and are willing to sacrifice overclocking options for it, then this board will suit your tastes. Otherwise buy the ASUS motherboard, as it is the only other MicroATX Springdale motherboard in existence at the time of this writing.
