Good little board
- Pros: Quick to set up, low power consumption, small enough for custom builds, runs Windows XP and 7 without a problem. No problem with Video as long as you invest in a PCI GPU.
- Cons: A little slow to boot, can't completely turn off onboard Intel graphics (read why this is an issue below). CPU too weak for most gaming.
- Other Thoughts: Overall a good board... but...
I also purchased a PCI GeForce 8400GS to use with this board for HD video playback. This caused some installation issues with Ubuntu 9.04...I had to add some lines to the install prompt just to get it to install and also had to use them just to get the OS to start... I found out it was related to Ubuntu detecting both the PCI GPU and the Intel onboard graphics... which can't be disabled.
It gets knocked off an egg for the Ubuntu woes. It's been great with Windows XP and seemed to work fine with Windows 7 RC, but a little bit slower than I liked.

Great for Linux Desktop/Server
- Pros: Excellent compatibility with Ubuntu 9.10 64bit linux. Good performance for personal Linux desktop/server used for software / web development and as samba file server. Overall low power consumption.
- Cons: Not really cons, but rather well know limitations - chipset power requirements high compared to CPU, PCI rather than PCIe slot, single memory slot.
- Other Thoughts: Installed in Lian-Li PC-Q07 case with Western Digital WD5001AALS 500GB hard drive, Samsung SH-S223B DVD burner, Kingston KVR667D2N5/2G 2GB RAM, and SeaSonic SS-300ET power supply. System has been running flawlessly for almost a month.
intel atom 330 board
- Pros: - compact
- works
- as good as I expected
- Cons: - no accelerated video driver for windows servers (e.g., server 2003 r2) which means not dx which can be a problem depending on what you want need (it's possible server 2008 has an MS accelerated driver for the 945 - intel does not provide any video driver for windows servers)
- do NOT try "Aggressive" memory timings in the BIOS setup - you have been warned (pull battery for at least an hour, set jumper to maintenance mode)
- Other Thoughts: - pci slot so added a geforce 5700 to get dx going (it was that or no server for me)
-paired with APEX MI-008 Black Steel Mini-ITX Tower Computer Case 250W Power Supply (see comments there)
- rs232 serial and lpt ports - huh, what the?
- not sure if I'd buy another; the ion would do dx in server I'm sure and probably have dual-channel ddr2 instead of the single, but it's 100 clams more, and for 80 smakers for the 330 and the mobo, I would at least consider another intel d945gclf2
