4 out of 5 eggsGood, just be careful with the jumpers

Pros: It’s a good board once you get by the initial setup issues.

Cons: The cons are the following:
1) The board comes with jumpers that are very long. I guess intel thinks you are going to be moving jumpers around all the time. If you touch them or have a wire touch them the server will just shutdown on you. took a week to determine the cause was a fan over the jumper :-(
2) read the other memory comments,
3) config assistant will not download updates, have to do it manually and put them on thumb, this is wears because it did work for the first update after that I have to use a thumb. The order of the update is important also. if you say all, it will lock up. you have to do the bios first. Silly you think the coder of this app would install 3 updates correctly.

Other Thoughts: Overall this has been rock solid, i have not had any issues once I got linux setup (Suse) on it.

4 out of 5 eggsBe careful V2.0

Pros: Dual NIC
Very Stable
Built-in VGA

Cons: Limited memory options
POST is very slow

Other Thoughts: The memory people are recommending (KVR1333D3E9SK2/4GI) limits you to 8GB on-board. If you want to go > 8GB you will have to use Registered memory, which is hard to find. I'm going to return the Kingston memory and go with Samsung M393B5273BH1-CH9, so I can run with 12GB on-board. Unfortunately, you can't get the Samsung memory from NewEgg :-(

2 out of 5 eggsDeployment Assistant a big joke

Pros: Board seems solid enough. Given the limitations, seems to run Windows Server OSs very well.

Cons: The highly touted (by Intel) "Intel Deployment Assistant" craps out when trying to install BIOS updates - tells you they are available but then can't download them; won't let you create a drive partition - tells you there's NO space available after telling you how that there's LOTS of space available. A call to Intel support seems to confirm that this software doesn't work. Board takes a long time to POST. Too bad that quad-ranked RAM runs at 800 MHz if you use 4 strips (and 4 is apparently the max for this RAM even though there are 6 slots). At least I knew this going in.

Other Thoughts: The Intel Deployment Assistant was supposed to be a selling point to buy this board, but if that software doesn't function, what good is it? I've wasted too much time with it discovering just how it doesn't work.

3 out of 5 eggsbe careful

Pros: This is good server board.
Stable, support large number memory
many RAID choice

Cons: RAID control software is very weak.
Menu does not show any how to set up RAID.
Need to go online to find the way to setup.
After setup, almost no OS can recognize the RAID volume.
Only Oracle Enterprise Linux can find the RAID volume.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Borad

Pros: Rock solid board. Added the same KVR1333D3E9SK2/4GI RAM and no issues. 8GB's installed so far and another 4 on the way.

Cons: None so far. Never had an issue with it. Runs headless and serves up movies and runs a few VM's.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Board

Pros: I took the recommendation of the other reviewer and purchased the KVR1333D3E9SK2/4GI RAM with this board. Rock solid with 8GB's installed. The dual Intel LAN is great and the multiple PCIe slots.

Cons: None that come to mind.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Entry Level Server Board

Pros: 6 SATA ports: raid 0,1,10, & 5. ECC support. Good documentation. Easy install. All around a great, fast, entry-level server board for the price.

Cons: Memory support is limited. Originally purchased Kingston KVR1333D3D4R9SK2/8G, which was to spec, but ended up having to return for two Kingston KVR1333D3E9SK2/4GI kits instead, as the board wouldn't post nor display video. Be sure to get "Intel Certified" memory for this board. The post LED codes gave no indication of a memory problem.

Other Thoughts: Tech support was good, but it was by email only unfortunately. BMC failed the Intel confidence tests randomly. Firmware upgrade seems to have fixed the problem.
