2 out of 5 eggsNot Good !!!

Pros: Lots of good design features

Cons: Unstable non video errors, warranty support very weak on this product. People are very hands off in terms of supporting motherboards for intel. Loss of marketing materials, boxes, etc when sending in for warranty support and board replacements are available but they send refurbished boards without packaging or materials. 3rd party warning on this support. Gotta be a better way than that. Your brand new board replaced by a refurbished one without packaging or materials.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY

Pros: None

Cons: PCI X16 slot one does not work. Does not detect more than one Sata Drive. Only works with low end graphics cards.

Other Thoughts: This board really left a sour taste in my mouth. Is this really an Intel mother board?

1 out of 5 eggsbuy anything else

Pros: None

Cons: Bought 2 of theses. First one reported a CPU temp of 100C, the second one reported a CPU temp of -123C. The bios is SLOW to boot from bios (even after the latest bios update and the "fast boot" option turned on). Both boards refused to reboot, they would just shut the computer off. I used a INTEL XEON E5-2660.

Other Thoughts: Bought a third board from MSI this time. My E5-2660 wasn't on their supported CPU list. Not only did the CPU work, the bios booted FAST and currently aren't any issues with it. I returned both Intel boards for a refund.

3 out of 5 eggsPoor craftsmanship

Pros: Excellent price comparatively. Solid performance.

Cons: CPU Voltage Regulator #1 temperature was constantly pegged at -128 Celsius. I'm certainly not using nitrogen cooling. Back of board looked like it had been handled while the PCB was still wet, finger prints and weird swirls that were dried into the PCB. (Chinese manufacturing at FOXCONN, Must have been near the end of this guys shift). CPU Voltage regulators do not have any type of cooling system. (EG: heat sink or fan) they are designed to be cooled by blow by exhaust from your CPU cooler, which didn't work for me as the heat sink I had blew the wrong way.

No internal USB 3 header.

Other Thoughts: I decided to RMA this, and get the Intel DX79SR which has two more SATA 3 ports, a second 1GB NIC onboard, and an internal USB 3 header, as well as a heatsink on the CPU Voltage regulators.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard

Pros: Well integrated components
Good quality components

Cons: If you have bad mem (I maxed the board out, may make a difference) it will just keep rebooting, CODES: 67, 69 then reboot.

5 out of 5 eggsNo issues

Pros: I have 50+ workstation computers with this board and Intel's 3930K CPU and have had 0 problems. The DX58SO and DX58OG both gave me lots of trouble but it looks like Intel got their act together on this model.

Cons: The only minor complaint I have is the B2B button is a tight fit in the IO shield. Not sure if this a misalignment on the MB or the case (Antec 300).

Other Thoughts: Solid board, no issues with 50+ systems built with this board.

2 out of 5 eggsBad Customer Support Knocks Eggs Down

Pros: Actually came with a BIOS that supports the 3820. It works... so far.

Cons: No internal USB 3.0 headers.

Big bulky blue thing with "Intel" written across it just underneath the processor prevents vertical installation of heat sink. What is this thing's purpose, anyway?

And customer support is HORRENDOUS. No owners manual included in the box; had to find a digital one to find out what BIOS beeps meant. Even then, descriptions were vague. Intel's online site just runs people in circles (Page 1 "Click here for troubleshooting" > Page 2 "Click here for the nature of your problem" > Back to Page 1 > "Click here for troubleshooting"). They want you to register an account on their site because they're too incompetent to provide any reasonable ownership instructions.

Other Thoughts: Seriously, no on-board internal USB 3.0 headers? It's obviously inconceivable that someone who wants USB 3.0 capability might be using a case with USB 3.0 front ports.

But more importantly, Intel needs to include hardcopies of owners manuals in their boxes and they need to make a competent website with competent customer support.

5 out of 5 eggsNice board

Pros: This thing worked with the i7 3820 immediately. I didn't need to flash the BIOS, or anything. I just popped the CPU in and it worked.

Cons: Meh, little things.
IO shield needed some violent encouragement to fit into my Antec P280
Fan headers are spread about, and there could be more of them.

Other Thoughts: This was my first time with a 2011 CPU, and I was concerned at the amount of force needed so secure the load plate. Seems to work fine, though.

5 out of 5 eggsNo Problems

Pros: Motherboard was functional straight out of the box with the 3820 CPU. It is definitely fast. I was prepared to flash the BIOS, as stated by other reviews, but did not have an issue.

Cons: My board is a little warped when installed in the case. It caused the Back to BIOS button to be constantly pressed in. Easy fix to simply press down on the top of the button to pop it in place. I do not know if anyone else has had this problem.

Other Thoughts: I have been building systems for 20 years and have never had an Intel Motherboard fail on me. I will continue to use their boards and processors for my future builds.

5 out of 5 eggsperfect with i7 3820

Pros: Perfect work with i7 3820 and 32gb memory
I don't know why some reviewers state this board is not compatible with the i7 3820.
I think previous reviews are their experience problem.

Cons: None
