5 out of 5 eggsGamer's Paradise

Pros: Generic as generic can be z75 board. Intel 82579V is bombproof, Intel USB3.0 controller, PS/2 for nkey rollover keyboards. This board has everything the serious gamer needs, and nothing more. Pair with a soundcard of your choice because onboard audio still sucks, but that should go without saying, really.

Cons: Out of stock. Shame Intel didn't commission more of these boards, they're the best thing I've ever had.

5 out of 5 eggsXP Pro Will Work Sometimes If You Use SP2 CD

Pros: This is just a note in reply to one of the reviews about this nice new Intel board and Windows XP on newer boards - I build a lot of systems and noticed that XP Pro SP 2 CD will install on many new motherboards because SP 2 for XP had newer drivers as part of the install as compared with just an XP Pro CD with no SP or a SP1 install CD - I was getting a blue screen after an install using an XP Pro SP 1 CD but all works perfect using a SP 2 CD - same key BTW - hope this helps a few out there

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsall I wanted, nothing I don't

Pros: -3 year warranty
-unlocked
-no legacy stuff, this is 2013
-posts BIOS fast, visual BIOS is sleek
-nice color scheme, if you care
-decent price for 7 series/unlocked
-I like Intel's bundled software (minus McAfee AV trial)
-Ubuntu 12.04 runs great but kernel must be updated to 3.5.x if running Ivy Bridge graphics. HDMI+audio works great "out of the box"

Cons: -why bother with the old keyboard/mouse port?
-wish they included high current USB 2 ports like they have on the Q series
-CPU socket very close to RAM socket

Other Thoughts: very happy with my decision to go with this board. My previous DAW (music workstation) was giving me trouble due to shared IRQ between the built in firewire and graphics/SATA controller. One of those things you find out after you buy and build, and find out you can't change IRQ's these days.
Decided to ditch the old PCI interfaces and switched to this board, the thought of no legacy controllers to mess things up attracted me to it, and I was right. dual booting Win7 and Ubuntu 12.04, both running super smooth and responsive without a single issue with drivers or compatability issues.
If you plan on running Ubuntu and integrated Ivy Bridge graphics, you must update the Kernel to 3.5.x (easiest way is right thru Synaptic package manager) or you will have kernel lockups.
Not sure if I'll ever need to OC this, due to the lack of jazzy pretty heat sinks on the power mosfets I'm not sure why Intel unlocked this board, or what it is even marketed for. Maybe the technology has advanced enough that you dont need all those pretty heat sinks. I'm ready tho with a 3570K CPU.
If you plan to use a tall/wide CPU cooler, you may run into clearance issues with the RAM, especially if you use RAM with tall heat spreaders. I am using the Rosewill RCX-ZAIO-92 and it hangs right over the closest RAM socket, although if I installed a 3rd and 4rth RAM stick, it WILL barely fit right under it, ONLY if I install the RAM before the CPU cooler.
my setup:
DZ45MLK-45K
3570K CPU
Rosewill RCX-ZAIO-92 CPU cooler
GSkill Ares 1600MHZ CL8 2x4GB (anodized blue matches this board perfectly)
Samsung 840 series 120GB SSD
WD Black 640GB
Rosewill Green series 530W PSU
Rosewill 1394a/PCIe adapter w/ VIA chip
Win7 x64
Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit

Built for mid-level music production, light gaming. working out just fine using integrated HD4000 graphics, not even OC'd

5 out of 5 eggsGreat HTPC board

Pros: I love Visual BIOS! I'm happy with all of the features on the board except...

Cons: ...LAN is moody/slow and I just don't understand why. I updated drivers and changed settings, but it just wouldn't play nice. Oh well, doesn't matter, I'm using a wireless adapter which connects at 300 Mbps. I'd love to figure out why the LAN was buggy, but it's just an unused port now.

Other Thoughts: I put this in an HTPC build with an i3 3225 CPU. I'm using the integrated video (HD 4000) and 8GB of DDR3 1600 memory with 1GB dedicated to video, a 1TB WD Blue HDD and Windows 7 64 bit. As someone else noted, my 1600 memory only clocks out at 1333 on this board. No big deal, not worth losing an egg. WEI scores of 7.2/7.5/6.5/6.5/5.9 with the above listed configuration. I'm super pleased with this setup. Two of my neighbors want me to build the same for them.

5 out of 5 eggsWhy complain?

Pros: I will be purchasing this board in the coming weeks, fully aware of it's shortcomings.

Cons: I thought the price was great until you RESEARCH and realize that the cheapest memory for 2400mhz is $80.

Other Thoughts: Why would anyone buy this board and attempt to install XP or use outdated ps2 peripherals??? Just a tiny bit of research would reveal that it's not legacy friendly. I hate when people give a poor review because they didn't do their homework or update the hardware. Don't buy state of the art stuff and then connect it to your outdated stuff from your old pc.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent board for the bucks

Pros: It works, almost no problems with the installation.

Cons: I can't seem to get XP to install at all, which is not surprising, just disappointing. Used to be you could install old operating systems on new hardware, even if you couldn't find all the drivers. And the PS/2 port is iffy, I have a good old Model M space saver keyboard (over 20 years old) that only seems to work if I boot the computer, then do a hot reboot. First boot the keyboard doesn't work, then it works on the reboot. This happens both in accessing the BIOS, and when running windows 7. Also not surprising, but disappointing.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat board!

Pros: tiny, supports ivy bridge, lots of customization options

Cons: cant find a way to get rid of intel's skull graphic on the boot screen which is annoying as i used this for an older client's home office setup (remains to be seen if that will annoy her lol)

Other Thoughts: MB for some reason recognizes the memory at 1333 and craps out if set to 1600 even though memory is 1600, not a big deal for my use.
