4 out of 5 eggsGreat for XP desktop replacement

Pros: Almost perfect for a silent, low power consumption computer. With a SSD and 4Gb RAM it worked far better than than my older Pentium4 3.06GHz machine and is great for everyday use. XP driver support including Video is available on the Intel site and as well as HDMI, displayport, VGA, USB2, Ethernet etc, legacy serial and parallel headers are available on the motherboard. For 6 months it was an ultra stable, virtually bulletproof machine.

Cons: Unfortunately I had an early production model, and the motherboard 'died' after 6 months. No longer performed POST or power-up, BIOS recovery was not possible. Intel tech support lead me through the boarad diagnosis and concluded it was a hardware fault. Best thing is that Intel have a three year warranty and they honored it. Absolutely 1st rate service, polite, courteous, and no hassles at all.

Lack of graphics aceleration support, so perhaps not a good choice for gamers, but great for everyday use, Office applications, web browsing etc. However, I found that Youtube HD videos worked well when played via Google Chrome browser.

Other Thoughts: Would not hesitate to purchase another or a later board in this series. Board is unique and concept is fantastic (silent, dual core, fanless, low power consumption). Intel support is first rate.

Pros: non so far

Cons: DOA
Board flashed (Power LED) a pattern that was not in the trouble shooting section of the manual and no audio. spent 30min with intel tech support while they tried to get the board to give an audio beep. After which they stated since the board is not producing an audio beep in must be dead.

Other Thoughts: Looking for a low cost board/cpu combo that can handle HD video play back. Now thrown in the cost of shipping it back, just under $14.00, and I could have purchased a more powerful combo for about the same price. I don't care that the Board was DOA I can wait another week but having to pay for shipping on a bad product. come on man.

5 out of 5 eggsIntel Atom N2800 Review

Pros: ( I have two of them) wireless, soundless, runs 64bit windows ultimate runs ms server 2008 ( but then wireless not work ) low power transportable as so small
I have my main machine as a dual boot windows 8 64 bit pro ultimate and also same 32 bit. I mostly use 64 bit. It functions well with 8 gigs of memory ( in 64 bit mode of course ). Forget the fake limit of 4 gigs. the intel blue tooth / wireless is fantastic and does not cost that much extra. I use to play onto a tv screen movies from mp4 or avi souces but also net flix. but sometimes I use as desk top and if I do I can later access it from my regular computer using remote access. The only con is sometimes you have to load the mp4 file onto its harddrive to get a high quality movie ( rather than access using wireless as the movie plays) but you can do that using remote access as the wireless is so fast the file transfer time is short.

Cons: low power cpu, there is no 3d support and its not due to lack of drivers. It lacks the power.

Other Thoughts: I am happy with my two totally silent atoms for what they are running windows server 2008 and 64 bit win 8 pro. I would NOT use as my personal computer. Too weak. The next mini ITX I set up will use a more powerful CPU albeit that will require a fan.

2 out of 5 eggsNo 64-bit Graphics driver?!

Pros: Thin mini-ITX form factor is perfect for use in a Sega Genesis 2 PC build.

Slot for an mSATA SSD, mPCIe wireless card (not included), and laptop memory, all of which lay flat and don't need any cables. Overall height with all components installed is around 3/4". That's awesome.

Has two high-current USB ports for faster charging of smartphones, iPads, etc.

HDMI and good assortment of ports and onboard headers...some which you'll never use.

Onboard power...

Cons: No 64-bit graphics drivers available from Intel!

No SATA III ports or USB 3.0.

Onboard power...power adapter not included.

Other Thoughts: I wish there was a better selection of thin mini-ITX boards out there. The profile of these are great.

You've got to be kidding me about no 64-bit graphics driver available. It's even documented on the interwebs that Intel intentionally opted to not provide one. Guess who was floored after installing a 64-bit OS to find out that the included driver CD not only doesn't have a driver, but that it doesn't even exist?

On the flipside...I suppose that since this is an Atom board that could only use 4GB RAM anyway, it's suitable for a 32-bit Windows OS, in which there is a graphics driver. But still, if the board supports 64-bit, what's the point?
