4 out of 5 eggsI guess it works

Pros: After flashing the BIOS, I haven't had any major issues (minor issue with USB 3.0, see below)

Cons: Even after flashing the BIOS, it still will not post (BIOS Error) while a USB 3.0 external HDD is plugged in. I have to unplug the USB drive before the system will boot. Everything works fine after BIOS finishes posting.

I normally expect Intel boards to have no Issues like this, but maybe because this is there last board it was rushed.

Other Thoughts: I was getting BSOD and random crashes at first. I re-seated the CPU and the problems went away and everything was stable. This was my own doing so I won't hold the BSOD problem against it.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Board

Pros: Good feature set
G74721-305 w/ C2 stepping
WiFi and Bluetooth
An abundance of both USB 2.0 and 3.0, and they work.
Virtualization with the CPU(Not the K)
No problems with Corsair 1600 ram once xmp profile set.
Sufficient fan headers.

Cons: This board still had the old bios, and had to be updated right out of the box. Smooth sailing after that.
It would have been nice to have gotten a slot bracket and antenna instead of the wifi/bluetooth "module". Though the advantage of the module is, it doesn't take up a slot.
Visual bios is not very intuitive.
No DVI port.

Other Thoughts: So far, I've had little to no problems with this board. It has run 24/7 since I got it without a glitch. I am running the i7-4771 in it because I needed virtualization. My biggest complaint is the wifi/bluetooth module. I'm hoping to find a way to convert to a slot with an antenna. Other than that, I put 16gb of ram in it, a 480gb Crucial msata, a 1gb 7750 video card, and a 2tb backup drive.
As another reviewer said. Post-Bios update. I'm happy with the board so far.

5 out of 5 eggsNice board

Pros: Nicely laid out with just about everything you could want on board

Cons: I found the rear panel a bit more fiddly than most - could be that I'm out of practice...

a bit tricky to add extra SATA cables once you have it in place

As someone else mentioned that the RAM speed in BIOS did default to 1333 despite the 1600 installed in it...

4 out of 5 eggsNot a bad little board

Pros: It works. Layout is pretty decent without things getting in the way of one another. For example, SATA connections face to the "front" rather than "up", and are located on the edge of the board.

Cons: Minus half an egg for not liking my Lenovo USB keyboard. Has worked fine for getting into the BIOS on every other computer, but not this one.

Minus another half an egg for the BIOS having form dictate function. It's a real mess to navigate and nothing is where you expect it to be. Looks pretty though.

Other Thoughts: I'm disappointed this is supposedly to be intel's last retail desktop motherboard. I bought it over better performers specifically as a protest against the childish naming conventions on hardware these days.

4 out of 5 eggsIntel nails it

Pros: - More bells and whistles than you can shake a stick at
- Support for the highest-tier hardware
- Great head spreader design looks awesome
- Comes with a free mousepad

Cons: - Misleading RAM speed support
- Lots of bugs in early BIOS revisions

Other Thoughts: Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past year or so, it shouldn't come as news that Intel is getting out of the motherboard business - this is likely the last SkullTrail motherboard. But, they're going out with a bang - this mobo has everything you could ever ask for, plus some. It's like the engineering team got to have a party, and everyone was invited - GUI BIOS, 7-seg display POST diagnostics, power state indicator lights, firmware RAID, push-button BIOS reset, quick-boot support, full virtualization support, UEFI console, dynamic overclocking, you name it, it supports it. Sadly, quite a few of the aforementioned capabilities had issues with the unit I received, requiring many BIOS resets for what should have been a routine change (I should not have to reset to defaults after disabling PXE), and though my RAM was DDR3 2400, the board required me to set it manually (it defaults to 1600 - apparently, it considered that overclocking). Happily, almost every issue I had went away with a BIOS update (I was originally on the release firmware), and it's been ticking along happily ever since. I do a lot of hardware virtualization with Xen, and while VT-d is usually a crapshoot with motherboard support, this one came right up and supported everything right out of the box. Post-BIOS-update, I couldn't be happier with this board.

5 out of 5 eggsTop tier board

Pros: This is top of the line board if and only if one condition is fulfilled. Stay away from any greater than 1600MHz memory, the difference of which will hardly be noticed. Picture quality will be enhanced no matter which gpu will be used. no matter 7970ghz or 780gtx. All the micro-chips and accessories are top of the line and the sheer quality of components can be seen through naked eye.

Cons: same old like i said.......stay away from >1600MHz Ram. Two bios are available. no improvement noticed after installing each other.

Other Thoughts: Happy till now

1 out of 5 eggsNice Board -- BIOS issues

Pros: The Intel board is well constructed and has support for SSD (PCIe Mini Card Slot). Very nice feature set.

Cons: Board had issues with PC2400 Memory, will not run except on lowest PC1333, mSATA not able to be written to. (Issue 1)--System Booted and was able to put OS, Drivers, Utilities _ Symantec System Restore, Snaggit, Laplink Drive Image started to fail, reinstalling did not help (Issue 2).
F2 to Start BIOS will not function and ability to get into BIOS is restricted. Sometimes, if you leave the computer alone it may eventually go into the BIOS (Issue 3).
-- and... Newegg will not cross ship a board. So I am without a computer for weeks ( Issue 4)

Other Thoughts: On feature set, the board appeared to be what I needed for my workstation. So far, it is a big disappointment.
Let's see what will happen with the replacement board.

3 out of 5 eggsrushed out not ready

Pros: great features. building a daw. needed ti 1394. only option was this board. nice looking. many leds to help diagnose issues.

Cons: low quality plastic on sata ports. inconsistent mouse and keyboard
work only if i remove and reinsert in another usb port. bios overclocking
is not well implemented. after updating bios
motherboard was auto clock at 4.37 ghz locked up board.

Other Thoughts: was hoping for a great board sure it will be in future revisions.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's the Best

Pros: Top of the line enthusiast board from Intel. Like all of Intel's boards, it really does set the standard. It's a shame Intel will be exiting the motherboard segment in the future.

Cons: Haswell USB 3.0 chipset flaw on earlier versions of this product.

Other Thoughts: Be sure to know what you're getting. Version G74721-304 has C1 stepping, while G74721-305 has C2 stepping.

For additional background do a search for PCN 112425-00

Newegg should probably consider indicating on their order page which one they're shipping, as I ended up with the older part and am currently having to go through the RMA process.
