3 out of 5 eggsdidn't work out as well as expected

Pros: Good choice for an htpc with lots of options .. Used as a Myth tv box in Linux

Cons: * DVD playback with very fast action would cause playback to momentarilly pause before resuming ..
* Motherboard has a tendency to freeze if heavily taxed e.g Record TV show while capturing data from a camera thru firewire plug and transferring data to another machine in network..
* Experienced unexplained shutdowns with no errors detected in logs to suggest software error

Other Thoughts: Good board when it is working ..

5 out of 5 eggsGlad it is coming back

Pros: Sorry can not give all the tech specs right away as I buit back in Feb. For beginers, it is awesome... 2 PATA IDE connectors, USB, IE1394, well layed physical config, easy to install and manual was no hassle either. I am getting another one as soon it becomes available.

Cons: Only con (if it is), I can think of is: have to clear CMOS and update drivers before going any further. And that really is not a con.

Other Thoughts: Not a Gamer board and I am not building that either - so it is not an issue. I am glad it will be available in October and I am getting one to build another one this one for my wife - may be !!! (depending on cpu and memory I can afford)!!!

4 out of 5 eggstemperature issue fixable

Pros: A htpc board, indeed.

Cons: cpu temperature issue gave me hard times. It would not have been that bad if I knew what that nenooing was. Good news is that it is now fixable: google for bios nfm214.zip and reflash bios.

Other Thoughts: digital audio distorted - not sure if chip issue or linux driver issue. Playing something through hw-dts, then playing my original movie reverts it back to normal.

5 out of 5 eggsI like this motherboard

Pros: Everything I needed (except a parallel LP port). I also like the spdif in - very rare in an am2 board.

Cons: None, really. Initially after setup, it did not boot up. Clearing the CMOS quickly fixed that.

Other Thoughts: Initially, I was not looking for a micro MB but saw this had the spdif in which I had not found in any other am2 board. I realized I did not need a full atx since this already had the onboard videos, sound, lan etc. I don't use it for games but do process video. I use Vista 64 Ultimate. I connect to my flat screen via DVI and my den projector via VGA. Processor used is a 5600. I have not overclocked it (not sure how or if it would really help much any). It's been running fine for 4 months.

2 out of 5 eggsUnreliable

Pros: Worked as expected while it lasted.

Cons: Unreliable

Other Thoughts: I purchased 5 of these for work and two of them have failed so far (under a years use). I had a higher opinion of Abit before purchasing these boards. Bad batch or poor design?

4 out of 5 eggsgood lil board

Pros: best features I could find in a micro board with onboard VGA.
good sound and adequate VGA for a startup.

Cons: setup was a nightmare as the board could not see usb keyboard and mice. had to get a standard keyboard to set up the OS.

Other Thoughts: great overclocking board I had my x2 5000 at 2.9 ghz dynamically.

4 out of 5 eggsOn second board

Pros: Worked very well for my HTPC. If I had not had to RMA I would say this is the best board I have used for my HTPC and I have been through about 4 boards trying to find what works for me.

Cons: I was unable to update BIOS as board would not see any floppy drives and I tried 3. Had a BSD a few times so needed to replace. RMA to Abit was a bit of a ordeal. They did send me another board and it works fine. On the fence if I will buy abit again due to RMA process.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Board "BUT"

Pros: Error free setup, dual monitors work well. I have 3800 x2 with A-data 2x 512mb simms. works great.

Cons: I didn't notice the onboard NIC didn't work because I've been using a wireless card.
I tried updating the NIC drivers, still doesn't work. I receive a DHCP address from the router with dns settings but can't ping the Gateway.

Other Thoughts: Lets fix the NIC Card issue. Other than this it works great.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Micro ATX Mobo!

Pros: Supports the brisbane core. Is a great overclocker but I only pushed it up to 2.3 GHz.

Cons: Reports incorrect temps for my X2 3600+ as 55C idle and mid 60's on full load. DVI-Sub plug on the pack feels flimsy so be careful. When attaching monitor, plug sinks back into case from pressure.

Other Thoughts: If you have a brisbane core, be sure to upgrade to 1.3 bios first (or immediately after a clean windows install)! I toasted a 3600+ the firt time I ran an emulator (clean install of XP) with the default 1.1 bios. After updating to 1.3, new CPU has no problems.

Core2Duo's may be faster and have more L2 cache, but this is much cheaper setup for HTPC/Gaming PC. If Intel can release a capable C2D in this price range, AMD may have problems.
