5 out of 5 eggsGood board for SBS 2003

Pros: All the features one would want for a SBS server. RAID works fine. Very nice board.

Cons: None really

Other Thoughts: STandard gigabyte quality. I have used 4 of these for customer servers with no problems.

1 out of 5 eggsNot the Normal GigaByte Quality

Pros: I bought two of these boards, and neither was DOA.

Cons: Where do I start? Neither board worked! Sure it would boot, but the RAID was a joke. USB wouldn't work. When I finally got Fedora installed after rolling back to SATA Compatibility, I was getting write errors to the drives. HDD Diags showed the drives to be fine. Second board wouldn't even load the OS. Corsair RAM and Tagan PSU's... In short, avoid this board!

Other Thoughts: Gigabyte makes top notch desktop boards.. Going to have to avoid their next few server board offerrings. I mean, when the OS sees right through your RAID5 config to see all 3 drives as individual.. you KNOW you've used the wrong RAID manufacturer. Am I the only one who dislikes the LGA775 push-down fan mounts? Feels kind of flimsy.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes not work with RocketRaid 2310

Pros: Gigabyte makes solid boards - I use them all the time. This one fights with the rocketraid 2310 but I have found this is a rocketraid problem.

Cons: My co-worker pressured me into the INTEL chip. I always get AMD.

Other Thoughts: On-board raid is pretty limited and I never found a "rebuild" option. As I was testing the features I found it would erase data and build a new raid instead of copying old data to new drives. This was a letdown. In older boards the build in raid worked much better.
