5 out of 5 eggsGreat economy board with PCI 16x

Pros: Cheap, easy to configure XP Pro 32bit. Has SATA 3GB RAID. Although the official Gigabyte website doesn't list the newest AMD Brisbane AM2 CPU's as supported it worked with a 65W Brisbane core 5600+. Integrated graphics work great for any office based task I throw at it. For some time I had a GeForce 7900GT PCI 16x installed and it played games great.

Cons: only 10/100MB Ethernet integrated - not GB. Only has 2 SATA so if you want to use RAID you must use IDE based optical drive. Not AM2+ so if you install a Phenom quad core the CPU system bus speed will downgrade from HT3.0(5200MHz) to HT1.0(2000 MT/s) spec; however, the frequency of AM2+ CPU will not be impacted (per Gigabyte website). Couldn't figure out why Audio didn't work initially - turned out I needed to plug the speakers in after the machine is turned on so they can be automatically detected and configured. I guess onboard audio is smarter today then in the past. Not a Con so much - just something new to me.

Other Thoughts: Built basic office PC with this borad, AMD Brisbane X2 5600+, integrated graphics, 250GB 3GB Western Digital 7200rpm drive, Optiarc SATA DVD-RW drive all in a HEC micro case with 565W power. I am very happy with this build. Most the the Cons are not Cons but rather something you expect in a basic budget board so I don't hold them against this item at all. I support a few small businesses in the area so I like to keep an extra inexpensive basic office PC at my home. I like to put a midrange graphics board in the PC so I can have a buddy over to play online games but then remove the graphics card should I need to replace a client's failed PC. This board and the basic build around it fit this goal perfectly. I would certainly purchase this board again.

5 out of 5 eggsFits the budget bill

Pros: I have done two builds with this mobo and it is hard to beat the value. I had no problems whatsoever with both builds and both are running great. This is a great board for users on a budget, and will fit the needs of a low end computer. The integrated video alone saves at least $30 from having to buy a separate component video card.

Cons: None for an economy board. This board is not intended for gaming, multimedia or heavy duty processing.

Other Thoughts: Used to use Biostar and MSI budget boards but tried this Gigabyte out after failures with the other brands.

4 out of 5 eggsNice MOBO

Pros: easy install, no problems. Great mobo for the budget builder.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Used this mobo to build a low budget system for my father-in-law, 1000x better than his old G*teway

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Cheap. Lots of options in the BIOS for various aspects of the computer. Decent Integrated Graphics.

Cons: VERY loose fitting SATA connections that very easily cause your hard drive and DVD drive to malfunction in the middle of working. The Front Audio is dead. PCI Express slot is 8X. Not for overclocking.

Other Thoughts: Installing XP was a pain as the DVD kept stopping from functioning. Later found out that the SATA connections on the motherboard were very loose and would cause the hard drive and DVD drive to malfunction. Front Audio is completely dead. I would've sent it back but I already had everything in the computer.

5 out of 5 eggsUsed in my main computer

Pros: Stable. Easy setup. Nvidia chipset. Great performance. I'm not an overclocker, so I have no info on that aspect.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: Used in my main computer with an Athlon 64 X2 4200+.

1 out of 5 eggsDEAD ON ARRIVAL

Pros: It looks pretty. see cons

Cons: Unfortunatly, this motherboard arrived completely DEAD!!It would not even give a post error. Thankfully, I purchased it from newegg. Newegg stepped up and honored thier warranty. Seeing that this is one of the cheapest motherboards you can get, you really got to expect it is a gamble when you make the buy.

Other Thoughts: Just be prepared to send this board back. You may want to have another motherboard ready as a backup when purchasing this motherboard. It is a gamble, but it is a GREAT PRICE!

5 out of 5 eggsNice Board

Pros: Just add cpu & memory your all set, of course most people use a case, power supply, drives, keyboard & mouse. I am using a x264 2.2 cpu and 2 gigs ddr2 800. Running fefora 8 with no problems. I also installed the fedora beta9 and that seemed fine also but i only ran it for a day.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I do not play games so I can't comment on power for that but my above mentioned setup seems great for my average type tasks.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed!

Pros: It booted up.

Cons: You can't overclock this mobo. Others said when in the bios you could hit ctrl + F1 to bring up advanced chipset screen. This is true, but when you try and increase the cpu speed you can only boot into windows in safe mode. The PCI express x 16 only runs at 8x. It does run Vista Ultimate, but it is a basic low end board.

Other Thoughts: For another $15 or so you can buy the BIOSTAR TForce TF7025-M2 AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 7025 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard. I am ordering one today and will RMA the Gigabyte board.
