Great Overclocking Mobo
- Pros: Every feature you could want. Stable, cool, efficient, and Dual BIOS option. Overclocked my E6850 to 3.8 Ghz on an aftermarker Air cooler. Rock solid stable. I didn't really have any problems fitting a Superclocked 8800GTX board in it, nor the HUGE Thermaltake V1 cooler.
- Cons: P35 Chip won't do Nvidia SLI. BIOS didn't have an option to boot from USB drive (what's up with that?) Expensive.
- Other Thoughts: I probably spent more money than necessary. I'm not using crossfire and half the other features. This one had the extra cooling features and I wanted the best so I could overclock as high as possible. I wasn't disappointed.
- Pros: Nice cooling, plenty of connectors and ports for add-ons.
Booted right up, recognized everything and installed Vista without a problem.
Nice overclocking options.
- Cons: Can't fit SLI 8800's without blocking the SATA ports. Not an issue for most people though.
Driver installation software could be better, but you can't expect much from a mobo driver disc.
- Other Thoughts: My 512MB 8800GTS fits well, but the way the RAM slots are positioned, you have to install the RAM before the GPU, as you won't have room to open the ram clips with the GPU in place.
RAM Killer
- Pros: Vast feature set; functional layout.
- Cons: It killed four separate sticks of RAM from two different manufacturers running at default voltage and timing settings. I have never had more trouble with any component in any computer that I have ever built. The features look impressive on paper and it would seem to be relatively future-proof, but I definitely won't continue using this or any related model from Gigabyte to confirm such ideas.
- Other Thoughts: If you experience problems with what you believe to be defective RAM using this board, please consider going with a different brand. I would hate to see anyone go through the six months of troubleshooting and RMA hassles that I had to endure.
