5 out of 5 eggsold girl finally died

Pros: built her in 2007, in the end the case had no fans functioning and it eventually fried, but out lived the memory, and 2 video cards. other than that everything else was in tact (other than the terribad case I bought at the time with bad fans). I can't give it anything less than 5 eggs just for the fact is survived 6 years of gaming torture.

Cons: uh died after 6 years of severe abuse, and 3 moves. wait that's not a con, its amazing.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Durability

Pros: By far, the most stable and longest lasting desktop board I've ever deployed. It's been through several cases, PS's, a ton of video cards, various storage, three OS's, two hurricanes and a minor earthquake.

Cons: Could not ask more of this board; its shortcomings are only due to being of a different era: Slot layout (3 PCI!), "only" 4 SATA.

Other Thoughts: The longevity and stability of this board has made me a lifelong fan of Gigabyte.

Current config is -

Core2 Quad Q6660
8GB of G.Skill F2-8500CL5
Antec Sonata III w/ EarthWatts 500
Radeon HD 6850
Crucial ReadSSD C300 (OS/Boot), WDC 1.5TB (Data)

5 out of 5 eggsUltra reliable motherboard

Pros: Great overall board. I've had it for about 5 years and it still works absolutely perfect. The rest of the system has been upgraded multiple times with several cases and power supplies and it just keeps on working.

Originally had a e2160@3ghz(333x9), 4gb of ram, and nVidia 9600gt for about 2.5 years then upgraded to a q6600@3.4ghz(377x9), 8gb of ram and a ATI 4870. The 4870 died and I upgraded to a GTX 470 which I am still running and it all has been working well since.

The highest stable (bench-able) I could get out of the e2160 was about 3.6ghz and q6600 is around 3.8ghz.

Cons: The FSB seems to be limited to around 380-400 unless you up the chipset voltage, which then you can get around 415-420.

5 out of 5 eggs6 Strong Years of Service

Pros: I wish I could give more than 5 eggs. This board has seen two processors two gpus, two cases, 3 psus, two after market heat sinks, 3 monitors, 4 keyboards, 3 mice, and at least 5 hdds. Other than the case and ram it is the only original piece from my 6 year old build.

This has to be the sturdiest mobo ever built. Overclocks galore, and way too much heat for comfort and it is still going strong. Like the Battle Star Galactica though I can feel her life coming to an end.

Walks away like a champ from everything thrown at it. I am still playing current games at decent frame rates (mostly due to the OCs on the other parts).

Cons: It didn't fail, never had an excuse to upgrade.

Other Thoughts: I just ordered a whole new set of parts. If this mobo supported a socket 1150 I would still use it. Gigabyte has earned a fan for life. This review will be her last will and testament....

5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong after 6 years.

Pros: -Usb 2.0
-Pci Express
-Long Life

Cons: None. 6+ years later, and still going on like the first day.

Other Thoughts: This was used in my 2nd build ever. Since Abit went out of business. I had to find another solid, reliable motherboard, brand. I took a jump at gigabyte and never looked back. I also bought their CPU cooler they made back then for an E8400, which I have overclocked to 3.6ghz, and the temp has never gone above 68 degrees Celsius running prime95 for hours. Things like this will always make me buy Gigabyte branded stuff. I also suggest Gigabyte to frineds/family, that want me to build them a PC. Gigabyte is now my brand of choice. It used to Abit, but they are no longer around, and to me, this may be their successor.

5 out of 5 eggsawesome MOBO

Pros: going on 6 years with mine. setup with Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, 8GB (2 xGB) Patriot Extreme Performance Memory, EVGA Geforce 8600 GT, 150GB WD Raptor, Antec Neopower 550w. all in a Green Raidmax Scorpio. 2 yr ago took the 150 WD to a slave and moved in a 300 WD Raptor as Primary. and just 2 weeks ago put in a Evga Nvidia GeForce 450 GTS. it woke up the system big time. but can't use the 2.0 part of that card. been a great system to start on!!!

Cons: don't have the PCIe x16 2.0 feature. :(

5 out of 5 eggsBulletprrof

Pros: One of the best and most solid motherboards I have ever owned. Reminds me of my first BX chipset board that I build systems with. Can't kill it. After over 4 years of hard service at overclocked settings for my CPU and memory it's still rock solid. Updated to Windows 7 64 bit recently and migrated the system components to my son for his gaming computer. Still works EXACTLY like the day I bought it. Fabulous.

Cons: Antiquated by today's standards, but still supports SATA 2.0 and PCI-E devices.

Other Thoughts: Wish all motherboards were made with this level of quality. Hats off to Gigabyte.

5 out of 5 eggsRock Steady

Pros: I've had this over 4 years, and never had an issue. I recently turned on the turbo mode, and the E3300 cpu zips from 2.5 Ghz to 3.0 Ghz only on CPU load. Nice :)

Cons: Getting old, uses older memory, supports max 8Gb RAM. Still using this machine for stock trading apps.

Other Thoughts: Still a good MB with enough expansion options to keep this MB viable for another few years.
