- Pros: Awesome Motherboard, runs like a champ once everything was tuned
- Cons: Some instability with 8gigs of ram, but once I disabled their overclocking software I had no issues.
- Other Thoughts: This motherboard is an awesome buy, I highly recommend it.
Don't Buy!!!
- Pros: No comment.
- Cons: Constantly Blue Screens. Gigabyte advertises that this m/b supports 8 gb of memory. I'm running WinXP 64 and cannot get the m/b stable with 8gb of ram. Boots up, I login then system blue screens. Have tried new memory and bios updates but no success. Will try to rma board but because I've been fighting this problem so long, probably won't be able to send it back. WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GIGABYTE PRODUCT! Their on line support is very slow, don't expect a reply for at least several days. I used to buy ECS m/b and decided to buy quality this time, guess I was mistaken. Suppose I'll try Asus.
Great Starting Bord
- Pros: This is a great bord for someone who wants to build their first computer or does not have a great understanding of computers. Its bios is solid expecialy if you put it on its failsafe setting. I would recomend this bord for anyone who wants to have a rock solid computer without many problems.
- Cons: Although I usually overclock a computer using my bios I wanted to try the windows overclocking system provided by the Gigabyte software this was a fatial mistake. Although I only adjusted the fan speed, it caused a major error and caused my computer to hard lock after every boot. In the end I had to revert back to the fail safe settings and remove EasyTune 5 Pro from my operating systems. I also had some problems overclocking since the FSB OverVoltage can only be increased by +0.3v. But I did get Core 2 Quad to clock at 3.30GHz with a Zalman 9700 NT and it passed the Prime95 torture test.
- Other Thoughts: In the end I think this bord is great for any person who just wants to learn about computers and overclocking. But if you have extreme gaming or overclocking in mind I advise you go with a higher end bord.
