4 out of 5 eggsPerfect board

Pros: -Excellent board, still chugging away for me after 5 years of use
-Fast bootup
-Good bios interface, not too bad for overclocking
-Overclocked E6850 from 3.0 to 3.3
-Great port amounts (usb o plenty)
-worked great for dual graphics x16 when I used it

Cons: -Have memory issues with it, cant run manual memory interface, have to run Auto only (hurt overclock potential for me imo)
-tried several different memory options for it, all had issue with auto/manual and find memory at much lower speeds if manual is selected

1 out of 5 eggsHORRIBLE!

Pros: Pretty good, when it WORKS!

Cons: 1st Board - First board came out to be defective, got a replacement no problem

2nd Board - Once everything plugged in, turned it on and heard one pop sound and smelled smoke. Checked everything, reconnected everything, ran computer for a good hour and the CPU Fan pin has sparks/fire coming of out of it and burned the CPU fan.

Now it can't turn on correctly. Turns on for 2 - 3 secs and goes off and does the same routine over & over. Called Newegg for replacement, but won't replace cuz of "physical damage" now need to call the Manufacturer.

Other Thoughts: Such a hassle with this board. It has many problems and nothing seems to work for a long period of time. Read most of the recent reviews and it doesn't seem to good.
This board overall in my opinion is not good in the long run.

5 out of 5 eggsTo gigabyte should be banned from newegg

Pros: Energy efficient, giant caps, QUIET compared to the 680i SLI i was running before. Hopefully this doesnt have memory controller issues like the 680i does.

Cons: Should have done the open box version (under $100).

Other Thoughts: I had the same problem, I ended up updating the bios, and it seemed to fix all my problems. Maybe that is something you might want to try.

1 out of 5 eggsGigabyte should be banned from Newegg

Pros: Great packaging.
Lack of a zero rating.

Cons: Board keeps starting and stopping on a whim. Sent email to gigabyte a while back and they would not even reply. I feel so violated. I have had almost 100% success with Newegg until this.
Newegg, please stop selling products from companies that don't care about it's customers

Other Thoughts: I have never got this motherboard past the bios phase before it shuts down. I have quality parts that has worked on all my Abit boards and only bought Gigabyte because of Abit's demise.
PC Power and Cooling 750
Intel Quad 9550
GSkill 8gb
Seagate hard grives
Etc etc.
Can anyone help. Little too late for RMA. Times are too hard to throw away $200

1 out of 5 eggsDisaster

Pros: Nothing good!

Cons: DOA and I had on the shelf and it was no longer RMA to Newegg, so I had to RMA to Gigabyte, what a disaster!!!
Dont know is is will ever get it back (Waiting for RMA number) Good Luck LOL And my customer is ready to kill me !!

Other Thoughts: Never again,
I has a system builder for 20 years, then
i retired. Stopped buying from my partner after i retired, found I could get about the same pricing!! This will last Gigabyte board, lousy support, and terrible bad engineering. BTW I am MCSE certificate computer person!! SO PLEASE STAY AWAY FOR THIS JUNK!!

4 out of 5 eggsGood Motherboard

Pros: It's a motherboard that works. It works with my Intel Q9400 and OCZ PC2-6400 Gold 8GB Quad Kit.

Cons: The motherboard comes with a "Crazy Cool" which is heatsink that goes on the opposite side of where the CPU is. I followed the instruction to install the CPU first. In fact you need to install the "Crazy Cool" because the CPU is covering one of the screw for the heatsink.

Other Thoughts: You need to get the latest bios from the manufacturer website in order to take advantage of Intel VT. Once you flash bios the VT option will appear in the setting.

1 out of 5 eggsFrustrating

Pros: Laid out nice.

Cons: After two boards, I still can't get dual-channel memory to work. Yes, I tried slot 1 & 3 and 2 & 4. I tried two sets of dual-channel memory (both on Gigabyte's list) Neither set would even get to the BIOS screen. The computer powers up, then after a couple of seconds powers down, then recycles. Both sets work fine in a different model Motherboard. If I put the memory in slot 1 it will boot to the BIOS screen. Same thing if I put the memory in slot 1 & 2. Of course it comes up single channel. I have Googled this problem and see that it is a problem with this board.

Other Thoughts: If anyone knows how to get dual-channel to work, please publish it. Before you come up with the obvious questions, please re-read what I have said and tried. Both (new) boards did the same thing.

1 out of 5 eggsGigabyte will NOT honour their warrany

Pros: Great when it worked.

Cons: Have sent several requests to Gigabyte for warranty support and they claim one day response time for RMA number. Has been over 30 days now. Do NOT buy from Gigabyte until they get their customer service dept. in order.

Other Thoughts: Basically a 30 day warranty on this motherboard.
