Worst board I've ever owned
- Pros: Supports DDR2 and DDR3. Dual BIOS. Relatively low price. Adequate performance/price ratio.
- Cons: Zero overclockability with my setup (Core 2 E8400, 4GB OCZ DDR3 1600, ATI Radeon HD4850). Lots of useless utilities from Gigabyte, especially if you run Vista x64. Useless Dual LAN Teaming feature if your router doesn't support it. Awful manufacturer support. Very limited RAM options (can't run DDR2 with DDR3 simultaneously, DDR3 maxes out at 4GB, DDR2 maxes out at 1066 MHz).
- Other Thoughts: Big mistake getting this board. Should have gone with DFI instead. Never had so many issues building a computer before until I bought this junk.
- Pros: Booted right up, recognised all hardware, vista recognises it, all functions work great! coming from a ga-p35-ds3l this is an obvious step up. ddr3 ready when it gets cheaper too! good adjustability in bios for the tweakers n oc'ers. gigasbyte has made me give up on the other guys, i use to only use asus boards, but price for quality and features gigabyte is on top of the game in my book.
- Cons: crossfire only, no sli...
- Other Thoughts: Watched it for 6 months before the price became reasonable, glad i did. cheapest ddr3 cpable board worth looking at. and it runs 1600mhz mem as opposed to many others 1333 standard. 9 of my 10 last builds have been gigabyte boards! no failures, no issues with their hardware. i must admit they have some slackish website/call in service tho...
Hardware A; Software D
- Pros: Hardware is well thought out and works perfectly.
- Cons: See my report below dated 10/31/2008. After 14 e-mails to/from Gigabyte, the audio drivers still aren't working properly. I finally discovered that they are incompatible with Windows XP SP3, which, unfortunately, is the latest service pack for XP. Gigabyte's final advice: "We do not write the drivers for UAA for SP3, we had heard from users some were able to get it to work with SP3 with registry editing. We are unable to provide the information since it may cause damage to the registry and can ruin the OS. You will need to search and perform on your own regarding this if you wish to use SP3."
- Other Thoughts: Gigabyte's tech support is very responsive, just not very helpful.
I reported before that I replaced Gigabyte's poor motherboard monitoring software with SpeedFan. I have since found that Hardware Sensors Monitor is even better than SpeedFan.

Introduction
Gigabyte's GA-EP45C-DS3R motherboard has been optimized to work more efficiently with today's 45nm processors. The board has dynamic 6 gear power switching. As your system needs more power it gets it and when the power load goes down, so does the supplied power. This lets you have power when you need it, and save energy and money when you don't.
The board supports both DDR2 and DDR3 memory. You can install up to 16GB of DDR2 in 4 slots or up to 8GB of DDR3 in 2 slots. Either configuration will support dual channel mode.
System durability and security are as important as ever. Gigabyte's DualBIOS system has a second BIOS chip on the motherboard for quick and painless recovery from crashes and viruses. They also built the motherboard with all conductive polymer aluminum solid capacitors for increased longevity and power efficiency. An Ultra TPM module keeps your data as safe as your system.
