Gigabyte has long been a leader in energy-saving motherboards and their GA-EP45-UD3P motherboard continues the trend. This board features 6 gear power switching. As your system needs more power, it gets it, and when the power load goes down, so does the supplied power. This lets you have power when you need it, and save energy and money when you don't.

Based on Intel's P45 Express and ICH10R chipsets, this ATX board is ready to host the latest LGA775 Core 2 Extreme multi-core processors along with Core 2 quad-core, Core 2 Duo, Pentium D and Celeron CPUs. Up to 16GB of DDR2 1366+ can be installed providing increased performance. A pair of PCI-Express 2.0 x16 cards can be mounted for cutting-edge graphic power with support for CrossFireX.

System durability and security are as important as ever. Gigabyte's DualBIOS system has a second BIOS chip on the motherboard for quick and painless recovery from crashes and viruses. Count on Gigabyte's experience and innovation!

5 out of 5 eggsStill Going strong

Pros: Good choice for OSX

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I don't use this board in any of my main rigs, but I keep it around for testing. I've probably owned 15 or so boards over the years, and this is one of my all time favs; the best LGA775 board in my opinion.

5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong

Pros: -Reliable
-Lot of Sata ports
-OC very good
-Xeon compatible with modded BIOS
-Still able to keep up

Cons: -Sata 2 unless you use Sata 3 card
-8GB max RAM
-Outdated by todays standards, but still running strong

Other Thoughts: I have had this motherboard for a very very long time. I am still using it today in my home media server. I've done almost everything you can think of with it: watercooled, running Xeon X5460 OC to 4.5GHz, R9 290X (now a GTX 660 since its just a server, 8 GB of OCZ Reaper RAM, and a PCI-E Sata 3 card with Samsung 840 PRO. This motherboard has never let me down. It stays cool, running 24/7 for the past who knows how many years with the occasional downtime to upgrade. I knew it was time to upgrade to a new Z97 platform when I was getting 30-40 fps in Dying Light but this was on a ultrawide 2560x1080p LG monitor, plus that game is Nvidia biased. I now have it loaded up with 5 WD Red 4TB hard drives and am building up my media library. The only thing I haven't tried is using ECC RAM because I don't know if the board supports it even though the Xeon does. While it would be nice to run 16 or 32 GB, I never needed that much and I needed the high speed Reaper RAM to OC and those heatpipes look wicked! This board is Hackintosh compatible with some work, I had Yosemite running at one time. Its sad I don't get to mess with it as much as I used too, but I know it will never let me down in my server. I bought the Gigabye Z97X Gaming 7 to replace it, and will always recommend Gigabyte because they are Ultra Durable!

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Motherboard

Pros: Excellent Bios, allows you to OC very easily and monitor all things going on within the computer

Have had this Mobo over 5 years and have never had an issue with it, very stable and solid throughout.

Onboard sound is above average, have been able to use it and get a decent sound without buying a sound card.

Cant beat this motherboard for the price.

Cons: Not owning one

5 out of 5 eggsStill working since 2009

Pros: Board is still running 24x7 since I bought it in 2009. I only ordered a NIC because the onboard NIC is acting finnicky.

Cons: Nothing

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard

Pros: I have had this board up and running with 16gb RAM, an Intel Q9650 proc, dual 150gb raptor drives in RAID 0 for the boot drive and dual 9600GT video cards running 3 monitors for over 6 years now. Great setup and it keeps on running strong. Running Windows 7.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I wish I my newer rig was this stable, maybe it's Windows 8.1, who knows.

5 out of 5 eggsReally amazing product

Pros: Had this board this 2009 and have zero issues. Everything is still 100% functioning.

Cons: There are plenty of things I could have wished this board had but then I shouldn't have bought it if I wanted those things right?

But the stand out is no Nvidia SLI. At the time I didn't care because I was running Crossfire. But later I ended up using a hack to get SLI. But that's a long story....

Other Thoughts: Used with 8GB ram and E8400/Q85\8400 Intel.

4 out of 5 eggsGA-EP45-UD3P

Pros: If you have this MB and are looking to upgrade to SSD SATA3 consider this;
Just upgraded to SATA III with inexpensive controller from SYBA SD-PEX40054 based on Marvell chipset purchased here on newegg. Works great, SSD speed has doubled in ATTO benchmark with latest drivers from SYBA to 526/532 MB/s from about 250mb/s I was getting with onboard SATAII controller. Nice upgrade for less than 50 dollars.

Cons: Bios screen when set in AHCI RAID mode (SSD mode) taking too long to load in my opinion, slowing overall pc boot time.
I was never able to reasonably OC this with Q9550 C0 and Muschkin 1066 memory, otherwise a solid performer for my needs.

Other Thoughts: I dont plan to upgrade MB anytime soon but would love to try out Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD. However, I'm not sure how much extra performance I would gain and if it would justify the cost.....probably not.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Motherboard

Pros: - Tough and durable board as their advertising indicates
- No signs of degradation
- Has older connectors for legacy devices
- Tons of features
- Stays cool

Cons: - BIOS settings have some limitations (if you overclock a lot like I do with several CPUs over the years) but not bad enough to drop an egg
- A little finicky with overclocking memory (and somewhat limited options in BIOS)

Other Thoughts: This motherboard is a feature-rich and is a good, solid, tough piece of engineering. A Core2 Quad Q9550 CPU was overclocked and stayed stable without any degradation (no uptick in voltage) for 5 years (3.61 GHz @ 1.268V). The memory sticks (4x2GB = 8GB @ 2.0V and 5-5-5-15 timings) have stayed at 1021 MHz the whole time too.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I have had this board for roughly 3 yrs. I bought it used. I have been running my Q9550 at 3.91 ghz for 2 of those 3 years and the board is still Rock Solid. Paired with a GTX 780 and my 8 GB of GSkill RAM, I don't plan on upgrading for a while yet. This board and setup may not keep up with the new boards and processors, but I can play every game at ultra settings with no lag. That's all I need.

Cons: none. even if an overclock doesn't work this board will still easily let you in the Bios to let you try it again.
