5 out of 5 eggsAwesome motherboard

Pros: This board is rock solid. It's got all the features you'll probably ever need, including a plethora of USB ports, 8 SATA ports, and even the 12 phase power management system. The board stays cool thanks to its massive aluminium heat-sink on both the north bridge and the south bridge chipset. All the slots work and offer a wide range of customisability, like 3-way crossfire/SLI support and other pci slots for wifi cards for example. In terms of overclocking, it is an absolute dream. Since day one it's had an i7 920 @ 4GHz, and to this day it can still do 4GHz easily. It's also had 6GB of ram @ 1600MHz in triple channel mode running flawlessly. As far as the bios goes, it is easy to navigate through and has a wide range of settings to adjust. There is also good support over on the Gigabyte website. Overall though, a great board that will satisfy anyone.

Cons: Despite the pros, I did encounter a slight problem one day with this board. It wouldn't recognise one of my graphics cards, where it would work in another system. This was only a slight hiccup though as in a few days it worked again.

Other Thoughts: As stable as a rock and can overclock so well, despite its now 4th birthday.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's been a long time...

Pros: I sit here and think about what a huge jump it was to get a 1366 system at the time (4 years ago). It was the most money I had spent on a system. But I loved the performance of the i7 that I had witnessed at work and knew I had to have one. the Xeon 5660's for example are still tops, same as the 980x still challenging ivybridge-e, This board has know been in 4 different cases just to keep the build demon at bay and while I have to use pcie 1x cards to get the needed usb 3 ports the fact that they are above the dual 6850's makes it so sweet. Love this board, so much that i've been shopping a 970 for it but they are still too much money so 920 at 3.8 is where it will have to stay. maybe three years when a 980 is $40 used this board will live on but I think I'll do a new build ivy bridge within 8 months, reports are they overclock great, but until then I'm happy with my P~8000 3dmark score a nothing right now really shows a comparative value.

Cons: the A version brought usb 3 and now that I have ssd maxiops in raid the lack of SATA3 but that was another generation so no fault assigned

Other Thoughts: only a dual proc BX board has been with me this long, so ther you go.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board while it lasted

Pros: Died at the 3 year mark with a capacitor that fried near the RAM. It was easy navigate the bios to overclock the I7-920 from 2.67Ghz to 3.64Ghz. It handled two EVGA GTX 460 SSC in SLI with no problems. Also had plenty of space for RAM.

Cons: None at all

Other Thoughts: Just wish that it didn't die on me..

2 out of 5 eggsWorks awesome, until it doesn't

Pros: Runs both SLI and crossfire.
Runs raid0 and raid1 simultaneously
Works great, when it worked

Cons: Died after nearly 3 years of use when I plugged a standard mic into the mic port/on board audio.

Other Thoughts: Called customer service line, limited hours of support. Loved this mobo until it died.

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage - No Quality Assurance

Pros: Lots of Bright Colors! However, worked for fewer than 6 weeks.

Cons: 1st Mobo began to hang randomly within 6 weeks. Since I build systems, had loads of spare EVERYTHING to swap out while isolating problem, and it came down to bad Mobo. Since out of 30-day Newegg return window, it was necessary to RMA to Gigabyte, who very promptly replaced it with an equally defective Mobo that continued to randomly hang regardless of Apps in use.

Other Thoughts: This product deserves (-5) EGGS. (NewEgg lacks any fault for being the unfortunate middleman). My first and LAST time to try Gigabyte Mobo's - absolutely NO QA process on these expensive ($300) paperweights. Replaced this with an Intel X58 board that is flawless! And Super Dependable As Always!

5 out of 5 eggsGood motherboard for building a hackintosh

Pros: I built myself a hackintosh with this motherboard. It's well-supported, has a plethora of USB ports, and plenty of SATA ports if you need them.

Cons: What's with the metal covers on the Ethernet ports? Seems a little strange.

Other Thoughts: This is the first computer I've built, and I love having a high-end motherboard at the heart of it.

5 out of 5 eggsGA-EX58-UD5 initial experience.

Pros: Got this board a few hours ago, installed it, booted it, set drive boot priority and booted Windows, windows installed motherboard devices (came from an ASUS P6T Deluxe mobo) and everything worked pretty much perfect so far.

Cons: Motherboard buzzed when moving mouse or opening certain programs, going into bios options, and changing the cpu options to "allow all cores, enable turboboost, enabled hyperthreading, enable cpu thermal monitor" and disabling everything else, eliminated the buzz / squealing / whining noise completely. Gigabyte should fix this, because many people probably do not know how to fix it (I found it by searching google.)

Other Thoughts: Smooth experience. First time Gigabyte buyer, my initial impression is pretty good.

5 out of 5 eggseasily overclocked

Pros: Running this board with an Intel 980x and 12gb (6x 2gb) G.SKILL PIS PC3-19200 RAM air cooled with a V10 cooler. Overclocked easily to 3.6GHz. Absolutely certain I could go further but haven't spent the time adjusting frquencies and voltages to push it. I originally had the same problem that Ken (posted 4/6 had) but came to realize it was from pushing my BCLK to high. Brought it down a bit and everything is working perfectly. Great board with great features and as always with Gigabyte it is easily overclocked. I've been running Gigabyte boards for my last 3 upgrades (yearly) and haven't had any issues.

Cons: Poor location for SATA connectors. The should have had them standing on the board rather than pointing sideways off the edge of the board. Would have made making SATA connections so much easier. A little patience and time got me past that dilemna. This shouldn't be an item that prevents you from deciding to purchase this board.

5 out of 5 eggsOne of the best!!

Pros: I purchased this motherboard as the foundation for a dual-boot "Hackintosh" and Windows 7 machine. I did extensive research into what motherboards, chipsets, and other hardware were compatible with a vanilla installation of OSX, and this motherboard has not failed me.
It has more options than I know what to do with, and it makes overclocking a breeze. There are extensive instructions available on the internet that will let you overclock a Core i7 to 4.0 Ghz on air-cooling. I run mine at 3.87 Ghz, and have yet to feel it slow.

This thing is SOLID. The PCB is THICK and sturdy and the board just feels like a slab of steel. It's awesome!

Lots of USB ports, and all the other expansion ports one could need.

Cons: A little more expensive than some other boards, but you really do get what you pay for...

Other Thoughts: Buy this board.

1 out of 5 eggsDefective

Pros: Looks nice. Seems fast. Lots of USB ports.

Cons: Lots. First, the item shipped was defective. It only recognized 4GB out of 6GB of RAM in the BIOS. Windows 7, strangely enough, saw all 6GB, but only 4GB was usable. I verified all my RAM was good. I called Gigabyte and they told me to RMA it. That was almost 2 weeks ago. Newegg received the item last Wednesday (3/31/2010) and as of right this minute (04/06/2010), the item still has a "received" status. I've called Newegg twice (yesterday and today) to find out what's going on and haven't gotten an answer yet other than "it's in inspections."

Oh yeah, the SATA connectors on this MB are in a HORRIBLE spot.

Other Thoughts: I thought Newegg would be better here and I'm disappointed in the turnaround time for the RMA. I'm also disappointed that this motherboard was defective... and after reading all of the similar issues people are having with it, I think I made a mistake by buying it.
