Works fine!
- Pros: Good design on the mobo.
The included SATA cables have right-angle connectors on one end, making cable routing easier, especially in a cramped case. There is also an eSATA connector that fits in to an empty slot on the back of the case. DDR3 for a decent price!
- Cons: BIOS is weird- Power LED goes out when the system is in standby, making the computer look like it's shut down. Makes it hard to tell if it's on or not. IDE connector is in a weird place, but who uses IDE anymore? eSATA connector blocks a PCI connector, but not a problem for me.
Worked on first attempt
- Pros: Worked on first try!
After a BIOS update the full speed of my processor was properly recognized. Been using for only a week, but so far I'm in love with it. I also can't wait to try out the Xpress Recovery2 software once my test-install is complete and I install for real. I also plan to change to a customized BIOS screen when I figure out how I want it to look- there's included software that allows the user to do this.
- Cons: The biggest problem is Newegg lists the max RAM at 16GB, but Gigabyte's specs say it's only 8GB. I don't mind a limit of 8, but Newegg should correct the issue (or if BIOS updates make Newegg correct Gigabyte should fix their site).
With the video card I chose the SATA port area of the motherboard is a little... crowded, but I still have complete access to all ports.
Needed to update the BIOS to make my CPU show the full 3.0 GHz rather than just 2.7 GHz.
- Other Thoughts: To avoid problems I used 4GB of recommended RAM: Kingston KVR1333D3N9/2G and recommended CPU Intel Core 2 Duo E8400. I don't know much about video cards, but I went with HIS H467QS1GH Radeon HD 4670 and have been satisfied.
Win7 rated this setup at 6.4 CPU, 6.9 RAM, and 6.7 Graphics.
Revived a e4300
- Pros: I bought this Mobo just to see if I could revive and extend some use out of and older e4300 which is 1800mhz and 800fsb stock. With this board and 2gigs of G.Skill DDR3 1600 ram I was able to OC the e4300 up to 3200mhz (400 X 8) and run the ram right at what its rated at as well-1600mhz.
Did this all on air with complete and total stability. Installed and runs Windows 7 with out any trouble. Prime-95 for over 8 hours, passes as many IntelBurn tests as I want. And I dropped my HyperPI time from 34 seconds to 19.50 sec.
- Cons: I cant think of any at all.
- Other Thoughts: Took some time but I squeezed some nice numbers out of the e4300. The G.Skill ram I bought also from NewEgg worked perfect, and runs right where its supposed to 9-9-9-24. Just bumped the mem voltage to 1.7 and that was it.
Also installed a Radeon 4850, and this cheapy box plays Modern Warfare-2, and NFS Shift with almost all the eye candy maxed with not trouble.
