Overclock...
- Pros: P45, up to 1600FSB, 16gb RAM supported, DDR2 1336mhz+, Ton's of SATA, IDE (for old school.) and more!
- Cons: None that i can think of
- Other Thoughts: I just bought this board to replace my old Foxconn G31 micro i bought a year ago on a budget rig. I've got the Intel E5300 2.6ghz dual core @ 4.0ghz on this board! My old board could only hit 3.41ghz tops! (i'm using the Zalam 9500a heatsink)
If you love to overclock, this is the board for you. It's just amazing! I can now keep my older dual core cpu for a time longer now that i've overclocked it so high. My rig: Intel E5300 @ 4.0ghz running 45'C full load! Gigabyte P45 EP45-UD3L 4gb DDR2 1066 Windows Vista Home Pre 64bit x2 320gb HD's in Raid HD 3850 overclocked HEC 600w PSU Cooler Master AMMO 533 Case Zalman 9500a Heatsink (amazing!!)
I'm loving my rig. I had all this stuff on my old G31, now with the P45, it's WAY faster. Games run alot better, and stays alot cooler. Well worth buying!
Bad Channel B DDR2 out of the box
- Pros: High end basic board. Just the right things, none of the extras. i.e. I don't need two LANs, just one good one, same with the PCIE16. Board runs cool, smaller ATX micro style which I like. Optic port and AC3, along with legacy ports on the board (com, ide, lpt) that are nice to have even if you will just disable them.
- Cons: Quality Issues, I first got the EP43 and it went bad in 3-weeks, so I got this one and a new processor (old processor is fine, just wanted the 3G Quad). However, the channel B DDR2 ports are bad. If you put memory in them the system won't post. So this is the second board with problems, and what a hassle it is to replace.... and pack up for RMA... and pay postage. The board runs great on Channel A but given the last board I am kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop. So not really happy or trusting at this point.
- Other Thoughts: Thinking about trying ASUS.
Great motherboard
- Pros: Used this motherboard to overclock my E8400 from 3.0Ghz to 3.6Ghz easily.
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: I knew what I needed and this board was at a great price and did exactly what I needed it to do. If you are considering this board, I have not have any problems with it whatsoever.
