Nice
- Pros: Nice, did what i needed. Wasnt DOA. I really like this board. Manuel is alittle lacking in areas. Tech support is o.k. if u can understand them though there accent
- Cons: One of the chipsets is alittle close to the graphics card. If it wasnt for this and possiblity to cause graphic card heat issues it would be perfect!
- Other Thoughts: AMD Phenom II X3 720, GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4,Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit, G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB), SAPPHIRE 100225L Radeon HD 3870. Set up gives me 60-74 fps on WoW.

- Pros: good placement on all connectors and slots as well as good price.
- Cons: installed phenom x4 9600 with 4 1 gig sticks of crucial and board would not read ram correct. i manually reset ram to 1066 and started getting run time errors, so i flashed bios which acted like it took but then quit booting which should not have been an issue except for the fact that the 2nd bios failed to kick in. newegg fortunately has rmaed the board will have to try different configuration to see if i can make it work right.
- Other Thoughts: gigabyte is normally a good quality board hopefully this new board will operate correctly and restore faith in the product
Gigabyte GA MA790X-UD4
- Pros: Excellent layout! Handles all processors on the market. Overclocking facilities are better than average but a little confusing and busy. Most software works as described. Runs pretty cool and not lock-ups.
- Cons: WILL NOT USE DDR3 RAM! What a dissappointment. It will handle DDR2 1200 and is supposed to overclock to 1333. I haven't figured that one out yet.
With the Phenom II x4 940 the sound distorted above 3.6Ghz. I installed a Creative Labs Audigy 24bit Sound card and it cured that problem. I have my Phenom II 940 OC'd to 3.6GHz on this board and it's stable in XP but will only handle 2.98 in Vista Hm Basic. Puzzling. My goal is 3.8 Hz.
- Other Thoughts: My multiplier is 14 x 258 FSB and voltage is 1.36. This yeilds 3.6. I plan to lower the multiplier and increase the FSB and then increase the cpu voltage.
My ultimate goal is to get 3D Mark 06 above the 15,700 mark or higher. My ultimate goal is 20,000. I would have to improve on the Video Graphics card to a 4870 x2. My Windows Experience is 5.4 and the HD is my only item below 5.9. So I will be tweaking this slowly until I get the desired results.
