Exceptional
- Pros: We used this board to make a Multi-media PC running Windows 7 and it is working great. Have a pci16 video card for gaming and room for a good sound card (soundblaster). This all on a 50".
- Cons: None yet!
- Other Thoughts: We now want a different Case (one that lays down and looks like a receiver). A never ending story. lol
gigabyte products rule !
- Pros: i have been using gigabyte mobo's for over 3 years now. i am never dissapointed when it comes to there quality and how easy it is to build new systems with these boards.
- Cons: none
- Other Thoughts: great board for a budget build
Cheap replacement
- Pros: Cheap, good caps, compatible with most lower power cpus, online support and drivers.
- Cons: Like some others have said, the floppy controller doesn't have a port, but just pins sticking up off the board, and it's located clear at the bottom of the board, which can be a stretch. As far as the pins go, read the man and find pin 1, then check the cable for a striped wire, which indicates the first pin. Not hard. Oh and XP didn't find drivers for most of the devices, including the ethernet, so I threw in the disk and... nothing was on it... which may have been due to not having the chipset drivers, idk. I had to download the drivers from the site on another machine and use a usb dongle. Having another internet-ready machine on hand is very helpful and sometimes almost necessary.
- Other Thoughts: Note: I didn't have any SATA devices, so I don't know about any SATA driver issues. I can't imagine there would be any unless you are trying to RAID.
Also, if you're having issues, look into a bios update. An update may solve some issues with hardware and even overclocking. If I were looking into overclocking though, I wouldn't be looking into this board...
Used this board to replace a machine a client had blow up on them due to faulty psu. Through a +4400 and 2 x 1gb g.skill 1066, 370W PCP&C psu, and cheap Cooler Master cpu cooler in her old case. I had to remount the hard drive though, since it was originally mounted too far from the DVD drive and there is only one IDE/ATA controller. Stock cable wasn't long enough to reach both, so I had to drill holes and mount the hdd under the floppy. Keep that in mind. There may be longer IDE/ATA cables though.
