5 out of 5 eggsBoard lasted just under five years

Pros: It lasted five years, what more can be said? Here is my original review here on Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/profile/reviews/N1o5L2lBbWg1Zml4T1cza1dzR3R1OS9lK01JRHBzRlE=

I still like everything about this board.

Cons: I had a Western Digital external drive die on me. Apparently it did something major because within a few dies my motherboard's usb ports died out completely. Wont even recognize a keyboard or mouse.

My only complaint would be that usb port failed to die itself without taking out the controller as well. It even killed the onboard headers.

Since an external device is at fault, i cant hold this against gigabyte.

Other Thoughts: My original review stated i believed this board could easily provide five years of loyal service. I was off by two months, lol. Oh well.

I am glad i bought this board, it provided years of faithful service to a technut who, while swapping components and such, had never before built a system. This board survived my tinkering, experimenting and installations into three different cases.

My only regret is that i can't get s replacement.

5 out of 5 eggsBest motherboard I ever owned!

Pros: I've bought this motherboard 5 years ago and had no real problems. I originally had a Phenom II x3 720 in here and upgraded to a Phenom II x4 965 a couple years later. That upgrade really made a huge difference. I use this motherboard almost all the time and its been on and running probably for almost 5 years!

Cons: When I first bought this motherboard I was looking to unlock the 4th core on the Phenom II x3 720. Unfortunately, this motherboard lists its southbridge as AMD SB750. Well this is not true, its actually (at least in my case) SB700 according to CPU-Z. So what that meant was, I was unable to unlock the last core, but who knows if that cpu would've unlocked anyway.

Other Thoughts: Honestly, even knowing that the southbridge was incorrectly listed, I still would have bought it. I am upgrading now anyway but, I m sure going to keep this motherboard!

5 out of 5 eggsTimeless Mobo

Pros: Inexpensive and great features to last beyond 5 years. Board is stable and going strong since 2009. Today it is running Windows 8.1 with 16GB RAM and almost 8TB of storage.

Cons: No cons so far. The XP set up was flawed, but that had nothing to do with the motherboard. Win 8.1 Pro is working quite well and all of the components are running well.

Other Thoughts: Bought this board in 2009 for a new legacy XP system and it worked really well with 4GB Corsair Ram, XFX HD-477A-YDFC Radeon HD 4770 512MB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 videocard and the AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz processor. On 4/23/14 I rebuilt the system with Windows 8.1 Pro, a 4TB SSHD, a 120 SSD, 16GB RAM and a PCI controller card for USB 3.0 ports. I figured, this board is so good, why upgrade it?

5 out of 5 eggsrock solid

Pros: I've had this since 2009 (5 years almost now) and have never had a problem with it. It runs great and after 5 years i've never had a problem with it. Will probably run another 5 years.

Cons: it's getting outdated.

Pros: cheap

Cons: Integrated video started failing almost immediately. I bought this like a year and a half ago, motherboard dead for no reason.

4 out of 5 eggsno problems

Pros: I've had this motherboard for 2 years. It works, no problems, which is great!

Cons: I've not tried the fancier surround sound, so can't vouch for it.

4 out of 5 eggsImproving the score

Pros: Now the system is very stable. What changed was an installation of Xubuntu.

Cons: The hassle of getting to this point.

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure if my previous problems were hardware or software. I assumed it was hardware, because it seemed pretty random, but with a switch to this less cutting-edge version of Linux, the crashes have stopped completely. The GPU still runs hot, and I still have a fan over it.

5 out of 5 eggsNicely done

Pros: Works great, the Onboard video runs wow nicely (only used it twice bought a proper video card gtx275) Worked well out of the box, easy install, and everyone is placed in a easy access location.

Cons: Nothing, mine looks kind of crammed with 2 video cards, but thats not the mobo's fault.

Other Thoughts: I keep products over a year before commenting, unless i have to return them. Very happy with this product. Onboard card is nice, but get a realy video card for gaming.

4 out of 5 eggsNot a bad board

Pros: Not a bad board all things considered. The on-board video is great for average gaming believe it or not. It is capable of running SC2 with low settings @ 1366x768 with 30FPS, which is quite an accomplishment. WoW is playable with High settings at the same resolution with 40FPS, dropping down to 25 FPS in Dalaran. However, the FFXIV benchmark scores a measily 313, so I question the on-board video's ability to play more demanding games (both SC2 and WoW are more CPU-intensive than GPU intensive).

Cons: After about 3 months the on-board video will start to fail, causing Windows Vista to hard-lock due to WMI errors. This is fixable by going into bios and setting the on-board video to use UMA only (as opposed to Sideport + UMA or just Sideport), which leads me to believe the 128MB DDR SidePort memory is at fault.

Other Thoughts: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Processor
4GB's Crucial Ballistix DD3 1600Mhz memory (running 8-8-8-24-36-2T)
150GB IDE Hard Drive (pulled from an old computer)
Sony DVD-RW Drive (pulled from old computer)
Corsair 750 PSU
Coolermaster HAF 922 case
Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
