1 out of 5 eggsUnreliable

Pros: Nothing above average

Cons: This board is completely unstable with any recent Linux distro. Constant hard lockups are the norm. Cheap realtek nic is worthless.. disabled in the bios. Video card isn't any good for HD playback... disabled in the bios.

Other Thoughts: I've given up hope of running a stable Linux system off this board. I can't 100% prove it's the cause but I've tested out every other component in another completely stable system with identical software. No bios version/options or kernel/version parameters seem to make a difference. The system wil run anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 days then hard lock with nothing in the logs. I have extensive Linux hardware/experience and do this sort of thing for a living. Without an error message of something to go on I can't prove this board is the cause of my issues but everything else points to yes. If I can't get it working chances are most other people couldn't either. It may not be limited to this particular board either. In my research there seems to be a lot of similar issues with Linux and Gigabyte boards in general. Bottom line; if you are tying to build a Linux system avoid this board and be careful when looking at other Gigabyte models.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: After countless BIOS issues with a previous motherboard, This one has been a significant relief.

Other pros; Plenty of USB ports, gigabit ethernet, integrated dual-monitor capacity.

Cons: Only thing I could ask for would be more USB 2.0 connectors on the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: The single PS/2 Slot is quaint.

5 out of 5 eggsjust what I was looking for

Pros: I was looking for a motherboard that would work with my 4 year old hard drive and with a variety of parts some as old as the hard drive and some more modern than that. And voila, this mobo did a fine job of working with both older technology and newer.

Cons: For some reason only has a single plug for PS/2 mouse or keyboard, so I had to go buy a mouse that plugs into the USB port. No idea why they did it that way.

Other Thoughts: It's only got one IDE slot which required me to rearrange things inside my case so they could all be on a single cable. But that's largely because I have 'old' computer parts.

5 out of 5 eggsGood, cheap lil board

Pros: It's pretty! No, seriously, this is an inexpensive board that seems to be a quality product. I had no difficulties of any kind with this board.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Sure, it could be more expandable, but look at the price tag, dude. This is a great board for a midrange home or gaming system.

4 out of 5 eggsfabulous

Pros: WoW out of the box and into my old system.
Everything worked perfect and my old hard drive windows xp 32 bit had no problems recognizing and operating great.
I used all my old stuff with no problems

Cons: only 2 rams slots and only 2 fan hook ups.

Other Thoughts: Gigabit is wonderful, I have been through 3 motherboards from Asus in the last 4 1/2 years and that gets old. Hello Gigabit good bye asus

5 out of 5 eggsGood Value Board

Pros: Reasonably priced board with the SB710. Supports 125w AM2+/AM3 Phenom IIs. Will also unlock extra cores on Phenom IIs.

Cons: Only 2 ram slots, but that's to be expected on a budget matx board.

Other Thoughts: Bought this as a replacement for a flaky Biostar board that was on its way out. Moved all my components over, set EC firmware selection to hybrid and ACC to auto and my x3 710 is running happily as a quad core.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent board for the price

Pros: Fast, excellent Award BIOS and plenty of connectors for a micro ATX board. The BIOS has all kinds of overclocking features if your into that. Also, hidden options are available by holding CTRL+F1 though not many. It comes with two locking SATA cables which are nice. The last ones I had liked to work themselves out, and cause problems. The manual is decent for those needing it. It installed without a hitch. A 3 year warranty is also a plus.

Cons: The only thing I could find wrong is with the north and south bridge heat sinks. The heat sinks flopped around when I first took the board out of the box. Both had a thick, probably to the point of thermal transfer loss, horribly dried thermal paste coating. When cleaning the old paste off, it would literally break apart in partially brittle pieces. I feel that the spring loaded tabs that secure the heat sinks did not provide adequate pressure at all and the abnormal amount of thermal paste was used to compensate for this. It smells like a problem waiting to happen if not taken care of before using.

Other Thoughts: This was paired with an AMD Phenom II X2 550 BE Callisto 3.1GHz CPU and Wintec AMPX 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 800 dual channel kit.

I've owned Gigabyte boards in the past with sub par results from system instability to random things like the heat sink issue on this board. I figured I would give them another try for a temp board and this one will serve it's purpose just fine. I've given it a large handful of application/game tests and so far is perfectly stable.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Value

Pros: Typical Gigabyte Quality. I've sold HUNDREDS of Gigabyte motherboards, and I have only EVER had 1 go bad. They have GREAT feature set for the price, and with virtually no failures, they have been a great product line on which to build my business.

Cons: Um... none?

Other Thoughts: I've read bad things about Gigabyte and I'm perplexed. I suppose folks who don't use static protection must be trashing their boards or perhaps they just plain don't know what they are doing??? I've sold HUNDREDS of systems with these boards, and NEVER had one fail in the field. I've had 1 board come in D.O.A. a few years ago, but that's it. Period. If the board don't have the features you want, it's not the boards fault, it's yours for buying the wrong board.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat budget board

Pros: +Excellent set of features for the money
+Pretty much the same performance (for the average person) as a full-blown 780G chipset
+Uses DDR2 memory, which at the time was a little cheaper than DDR3
+Supports the latest AM3 CPUs, including Athlon II and Phenom II

Cons: -Only two RAM slots instead of the four you see on many mATX boards these days, so upgrading RAM past 4GB is expensive
-Missing features that enthusiasts may want, like HDMI and digital audio out.

Other Thoughts: This was a great foundation for a basic desktop system I built for some friends. In addition to this board, I used an Athlon II x3 425, which seems like a solid chip, and 4GB of DDR2 RAM. Windows 7 installed and booted up like a champ, and I doubt my friends will need anything faster for several years.
