3 out of 5 eggsNot a bad board when working

Pros: Layout is very good, BIOS is easy to overclock with, and the heatsinks keep the chipset nice and cool.

Cons: Onboard audio isn't as good as an actual card.
My board developed an issue where the PCIe x16 slots would cause the VGA driver to crash. Orginally thought it was my old 4870, but it continued after a new card and fresh Windows load. Also thought it might be a PSU issue, so I also bought a new PSU. No good.
Spent time with both XFX support and finally determined it was the board. Also spent time with GigaByte tech support. After dealing with tech support they just said "Oh, you can RMA it." I was expecting to receive an RMA number from them, but I had to do that on my own. Wasted two weeks, and it takes 2-3 business WEEKS to get the board back. I'm very disappointed with that.

Other Thoughts: I had very high expectations for the board from the beginning, but got frustrated as time went on. I'm not waiting for the RMA so I ordered a new board and will just sell this one when it gets back.

3 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: Gnerally works well in linux, with a couple of exceptions (see cons).

Cons: Suspend doesn't work in linux. Occasionally (one of 10 or so times) the board doesn't post, and have to power off/power back on. Assumed it was the power supply, but same problem only with this board when I swapped power supply with my other desktop. However, once it boots it's generally fine.

Other Thoughts: Works okay. Had it over a year. IOMMU not supported with this chipset (bummer), so the 2 nics might not be all that useful. At least not if you had planned to use the extra one for virutal machines.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid mobo

Pros: Running smooth after almost a year. Plenty of connections for well, everything. First mother board I've installed.

Cons: sata ports are a tid bit cramped.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid board with some quirks

Pros: Solidly made, lots of features, good compatibility

Cons: Sporadic BIOS and driver updates, sometimes erratic behaviour

Other Thoughts: I have this as the base for my system, with a Kingston SNV425 SSD drive as my boot volume and have had terrible issues with data corruption on the drive running Windows 7 64-bit. A partial solution that seems to work sometimes is to leave the system at the logon prompt and walk away for a while, but repeated reboots will slowly corrupt the drive. It appears to be a driver issue, but with slow driver releases I can't really tell.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Board Yet

Pros: I have yet to experience any kind of a crash since I replaced my previous board with this one. Future friendly, will have some lasting power and thats good.

Cons: The 890 chipset just came out. It doesn't sound like its a huge upgrade, but maybe I missed the bus there?

Other Thoughts: Works awsome with my setup. Would certainly recommend it.

1 out of 5 eggsUseless

Pros: Lots of options. Too bad none of them work.
Gigabyte boards are generally less flakey than Asus. (not this one though)

Cons: Defective Bios. Poor Quality control?
I spend Big $$$ on a new build and now have a case full of useless parts untill I get a replacement motherboard.

Other Thoughts: I have had many Gigabyte Mother boards and I liked every one of them. I may be looking for a new prefered brand of motherboard after this however.

5 out of 5 eggs%100 Satisfaction

Pros: Beautiful, easy to install, comes with a clear manual that big and mostly plenty of slots, Sata, Usb and redondancy. Who else has double CMOS?

Cons: At this point I am not able to reach their online Download Center, error:
Please remove Microsoft update 912945 first before using GIGABYTE Download Center.
I don't even have that update installed on my Win 7

Other Thoughts: If you have never built a system before this is the motherboard for you, just read of follow the manual and you'll feel like a tech.

5 out of 5 eggsOUTSTANDING BOARD!!!!

Pros: This board is the mother of all boards! This thing was a breeze to install. Just remember, if you are running 1600 ram you need to go into the Bios and manually change the timings and the voltage. Also, if you are running a PCI Express card, you need to also go into the Bios and change the PCI slot to Peg instead of auto. Once you do those two things, this baby runs like a dream! The on screen bios upgrade is very handy also.

Cons: Not really a con, but the SATA ports are somewhat hard to get to when you install your hard drives, CD player, ect.

Other Thoughts: If you want a great mobo with easy overclocking features, this one is for you!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat MOBO

Pros: Tons of features, very easy to adjust setting in BIOS. I did a mild over-clock on a Phenom II X4 965, to 3.8ghz, didn't even have to touch voltage. You might have to adjust RAM speed manually, my DDR3 1600 defaulted to 1333, but only took a few moments to correct. Dual BIOS chips, dual LAN ports, lots of redundancy to keep your computer going if something dies.

Cons: Not cool colors :-p

Other Thoughts: This is a great MOBO with tons of features and things to tinker with.

Get the RAID drivers copied onto a floppy for an XP install, or an SD card (or equivalent) for a windows 7 install.

Driver CD has a great auto-install to manage everything.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: IS future proof with the support of AMD's 6 core processor along with 3.0 USB and 6gb/s Sata. Was also able to overclock my 955 to 3.8 mhz on stock voltage, at 1.475 volts my 995 is stable at 3.9 mhz. Was also able to get it stable at 4.0 mhz with some tweaking to the FSB (but it was getting to hot). i brought it back down to 3.8 as it seems to be the "sweet spot" and when i need to up it i will. I also noticed a drastic increase in performance from the last board i was using which was a ASUS M4A79XTD EVO.

Cons: had to overclock my 1600 mhz ram to get it up to its speed, but was expecting that. Also, i don't know why but CPUid shows that my processor looses some voltage when under full load? but that might be normal.

Other Thoughts: Thermaltake Contact 29 works great overclock at 3.8 mhz, but when i rais the volts and set it to 4.0, its hitting 66 C which is too hot. still would recommend it though.

The boards overclocking features are very simple, and it seems this is one of the most stable Overclocking boards that is AMD compatible.
