2 out of 5 eggsDon't Expect it to Make it Far.

Pros: Ran cool, well thought out placement

Cons: The whirring noise of death came a few months ago and i started to have funky issues. Tested every component endlessly only to realize the board was in the last throws of life. Severely disappointed as Gigabyte is normally a good brand.

Other Thoughts: Hoping that my warranty claim will be treated with respect and integrity so I can continue to support this brand. Will keep posted.

1 out of 5 eggsFlaky board, TERRIBLE customer service

Pros: Nice design
Feels quite durable

Cons: RMA process from Gigabyte is one of the worst I have ever seen. They are very slow. My board started randomly freezing and BSOD'ing. First time around, they just flashed the BIOS and returned the board to me. I changed chip, memory, graphics -- the board still crashed. I returned it a second time. Gigabyte service claimed that they replaced my board. What they did was replace a sticker on the very same board I had sent in (I had made a small mark on one of the components with a pen). When asked why they returned the same board to me, the technical support man became belligerent. I decided to throw away the board at a total loss to me and buy an EVGA. This is sad because I used to be a big Gigabyte fan but their customer support has turned me into someone else's customer.

Other Thoughts: Very sad level of customer service. If this continues, Gigabyte will lose customers.

5 out of 5 eggsGood 1336 board

Pros: Owned over a year now, great board. This board is a great board. I run a i7 920-d0 stepping, 12 gigs of corsair dominator 1600, gtx460 video, My main drive is a corsair ForceGT 120 ssd. I also run 2 backup hdd in raid. This board has great bios settings for overclocking my 920 to 3.8 almost instantly. 4.0 is not unreasonable

Cons: Seems to take lots of power. When I first put everything together the HEC Zephyr MX 750 750W would not power everything correctly and I was getting random reboots. I went out and bought a Corsair Professional Series Gold 1200-Watt 80 Plus Gold #CMPSU-1200AX and havnt had an issue again. The marvell support seems to be working good and has come a long way from a year ago but I don’t think ill see any faster speeds from this board because the pcie is shared with the marvell ports and seems to be hitting a wall on read and write speeds. I do manage to get a solid 4.2 read off the marvell ports but am not seeing 6 on this board even with a more than capable SSD.

Other Thoughts: GREAT board for a 1336 board, great support on the website for bios and driver updates. Good onboard sound with the new bios and Dolby support drivers. HOWEVER .To push this thing to the extreme i might try and pick up a RocketRAID640 SATA 6Gb/s Adapter PCI-E2 and see if i can push up the ssd speeds.

2 out of 5 eggswon't boot

Pros: I don't like the idea of an RMA but don't know where else to turn. I Reset the CPU 3 times, replaced the memory with Crucials recommended, tried 3 different video cards, tried 3 power supplys. Removed the board from one case and reinstalled it in another. The board just wants to start and stop and monitor comes up with no signal.

Cons: Can't get it to boot up.

Other Thoughts: Any one got any ideas or had this problem? I just want to get the board to work and give it 5 stars

3 out of 5 eggsA few glitches

Pros: Easy to install. Good BIOS options for overclocking. Nice heatskinks. Very fast chipset and memory. A good board for LGA1366.

Cons: A few glitches. First had to disable the Marvell RAID controller bc the drivers don't support 6Gb/s SATA. The Intel ICH10R RAID is reliable at 3Gb/s. Windows 7 64-bit Pro doesn't recognize the Realtek RTL8111E gigabyte ethernet on install. Have to install Windows 7 without internet access, then install the driver, then install the windows updates after. In order to run nVidia dual SLI, had to disable the Realtek ethernet controller and install an Intel gigabit ethernet PCI-express card due to a conflict between the Realtek ethernet driver and the nVidia SLI driver. Also the SLI bridge has a tiny directional arrow etched into the plastic that is *very* hard to find. If you install this bridge the wrong way, you will get random Windows 7 bluescreens with no explanation. The 3rd PCI slot for 3-way SLI is not useable bc the card interfers with the USB and power/LED ports on the motherboard. The two PCI slots available are very close together.

Other Thoughts: In retrospect, would buy a board that doesn't use the Marvell RAID chipset for 6Gb/s RAID, and doesn't use the Realtek RTL8111E for gigabit ethernet. Both controllers led to driver issues with Windows 64-bit pro. Hope this helps someone avoid some of these pitfalls.

4 out of 5 eggsA few Months later

Pros: I have this board loaded with a Intel Core i7 and 24 GB of RAM, and been running seamless. Thanks to the heat sinks on the board its helped reduce the noise factor and one less fan to die.

Cons: wish it had more USB 3.0 connections

1 out of 5 eggsBlue Screens, Crashing and Re-starts

Pros: Looks Good and worked good while it lasted.

Cons: Started getting Blue Screens and Restarts for no apparent reason. Tested everything under the sun and found no problems with any of the Components. Tried as a last resort to re-install WIN 7 64-bit and now it is a Brick. Wish I would have checked the forums here before spending days trying to correct the problem. I have all the same problems as indicated by other users. If I can' get it taken care of I guess its back to the trusty EVGA

Other Thoughts: Avoid this Board at all costs

5 out of 5 eggsWorking Good

Pros: Working Great... no Problems...

Cons: documentation on installing a SSD is vage... actually no documentation on installing a SSD at all.

Other Thoughts: I would like to know if putting in a SSD is doable with Windows XP Professional 64 bit OS..??

1 out of 5 eggs1 year later!!!

Pros: Runs pretty cool compared to most 1366 socket boards.

Cons: The board ran great for the first 2 months until the day I started hearing the dreaded whining noise I think from the chipset. It was all down hill from there. Sata controllers started to go bad thought it was my drives but no errors after drive test. Not a short time after that my sleep function would not work properly instead of waking up it would resume and once in the os it would go dreadfully slow followed by bsod after bsod. The bad part about the whole thing is I need to send gigabyte my motherboard and they said its going to take a month and they dont even know if I will recieve a new board or not. Im sure one of the "I dont care" techs will not diagnose the board properly and they will send me back the same MB.

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend this board if you want your computer to last more then one year.
