4 out of 5 eggs4 years old and still working

Pros: I've had this MB since 2010, and it has been on 24/7 every day since I got it. It has just worked.

Cons: The USB-3 has been a little iffy. If the hub on that port burps, then I have to restart Linux to get it to recognize it again. The burps are usually me doing something dumb with the devices plugged in.

Other Thoughts: It was an economical board at the time, and has survived being on constantly for 4 years. I've overclocked it to run a 2.97Ghz I3 CPU at 4Ghz, day in and day out. No problems. The only reason I'm commenting now is that my power supply fan died, and I was looking at the original order from Newegg to see what I bought back then.

2 out of 5 eggsDissappointed

Pros: Was an all around good board I used for a simple build for my mom. Had ram issues at first then it seemed OK after swap to ADATA.

Cons: Had intermittent issues with USB 3 ports. Then it started randomly shutting off a few months ago, but I attributed it to software. Well it finally just quit. Sad for a board with light use and 5yr plus projected life span. Since I didn't get to it right away, now it is past warranty I suspect.

Other Thoughts: This board was hailed as rock solid, so I took a chance on Gigabyte and lost. Doubt I will ever buy another for my customers.

1 out of 5 eggsDies after a year

Pros: Works well while it is new

Cons: I was just curious on the warranty period so looked at this board after it started acting up. My board is behaving exactly like the others, it randomly shuts down/reboots, then refuses to power back up. Tried other PS and now it looks like its a common problem.

Other Thoughts: So far manufacturer service is slow to respond. I'll try to get it serviced and will up the rating if it happens fast.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed at 1 year

Pros: This board has all the features I was after for a HTPC build. I don't need a high horsepower system for gaming, just something that will run Ubuntu Linux and MythTV. This unit fits the bill for both. It has interfaced well with the rest of my home theater system with the built-in HDMI port, and is very easy to connect.

Cons: Failed at 1 year. Random reboots, or more commonly just random shutdowns. Unit will not restart for ~10 minutes following random shutdown, now only runs for 5 minutes or so.

Other Thoughts: I had high expectations for this board, with its price and feature set. Honestly, it's a 5-Egg product without the failure. After seeing the number of identical problems at various lengths of ownership, I have to reduce it to a solid 1 Egg. This is a disappointingly high collection of failures for what could otherwise be a stellar product.

2 out of 5 eggsDied like the rest

Pros: Good price when purchased
Great feature set

Cons: Flaky performance
Dead at a year

Other Thoughts: Bought the board back in Feb. 2011 and had a great time with for the most part. Around October though, I noticed random reboots and occasional trouble getting the machine to turn back on after it mysteriously shut down. Got a new Gigabyte board and Sandy Bridge CPU in December, so this board and the CPU went directly out of the machine and back into the box, where they sat until this week. Put them in a new build, and was completely unable to power the machine on. After testing, the PSU is good, meaning the board is totally dead. Put in an RMA, but I'm not holding my breath they'll actually come through and step up to fix this poorly constructed board.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent, with some memory issues

Pros: It still works, once I solved the RAM memory problems.

Cons: I bought this over a year ago for my wife's I5 Lynnfield computer. It turns out that her 4 sticks of 1600 GSkill memory (which are tested on the Gbyte website as okay for this board), are not working properly. Turns out that for the past year, only 4 gigs have been active, the other two MB slots 3 and 4 are not working. I have heard of others having this same problem, and RMAing the board. After some trial and error with the bios, I then took the CPU out and checked for bent pins with a magnifying glass...nothing. Put the whole thing back together, and thru more trial and error got it working and stable by doing the following: Updated the bios, reverted back to default, removed all Gigabyte software. Turns out that somehow the software was "updating firmware" sometimes when the computer was shutting down, which was messing up the bios settings and recognition of the RAM. The RAM is still not recognized properly (only runs at 1333), but at least all of the slots are working now.

Other Thoughts: This MB was rated rock solid when I bought it, now only three eggs, I'd have to agree. Next time, I'll stick to Asus or MSI.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy this MoBo

Pros: Easy set up

Cons: Dies like a lightbulb!

Other Thoughts: When I bought this board I liked the features. Newegg delivery was amazingly fast. It all seemed perfect. The machine came together great and ran with very few small problems untill yesterday when I plugged in the HDMI cable for the first time. The computer wasn't even on! I tried to boot up and it was all over. What a surprise.

1 out of 5 eggsBad RAM Slots

Pros: USB 3, Easy set-up

Cons: I ended up with both RAM slots on one side being dead. The RAM itself was tested and was good. I'm stuck using one side and running it in Single Channel mode.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Little Board

Pros: Easy to install. Had every connection I needed. Bios was easy to update. Easy Tune program does any little bit of overclocking I need and monitors temperatures.

Cons: May be hard to add a CPU fan with not much room between CPU and ram slots.
