1 out of 5 eggsSSD Problems

Pros: It seemed to work fine for 6 months.

Cons: I’ve had this board running for approx. 6 months with a Corsair Reactor R60 SSD. It was set to AHCI and worked fine. Then I updated the bios to F8. The system started to shut down randomly. It would sometimes run for 5 minutes and other times an hour. During this time the F9 bios came out so I updated to that and it seemed worse. So I went back to F6, which had been working fine. Now the system won’t boot at all. I tried reinstalling Windows 7 Ultimate X64 but I can’t get the operating system to load. It fails at the first reboot with a blue screen even if I set the controller to IDE. The Corsair SSD works fine in another system and I tried a WD Silicon Edge SSD that was brand new with this board and it also failed to boot. Strangely enough it works just fine with a regular hard drive and AHCI so it’s not totally useless but it might as well be.

Other Thoughts: This is also the only board I’ve ever seen that won’t run a small 2.5 external USB 2 hard drive because it won’t supply enough power through the USB port. It also sometimes won’t let me use my wireless keyboard to get into and set the BIOS when I boot up. I won’t say not to buy this board but beware if you plan to use an SSD.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so great

Pros: -Easy connectivity
-Software easy to install
-Packed with features for the price

Cons: Non.... yet (fingers crossed)

Other Thoughts: I bought this MB from a local store almost a month ago for the same price of $109.00. This was my first build and I wanted to go with a nice mid ranged MB to start off. This MB hit the spot. It had all the features I would want without going overboard. Connecting everything was easy and I believe that this MB helped me learn setting up a new system with the manual provided. Granted I spent a lot of time searching google for things but that's because I'm a perfectionist. I just wanted to write a review because I just like the product. It works great and I think it was more then worth the $ spent.

1 out of 5 eggsUnstable, crashes with even the slightest of tweaks

Pros: Cheap, lots of features. Would be 5 stars if it were for the major 'Cons' below.

Cons: I've had this board for almost 5 months now, at first I simply running stock. I would occasionally get a memory_management BSOD but running a battery of tests (prime95 for 8hrs followed by memtest for 4hrs) showed no issues. I dismissed it as a random bug in Windows7 that would crop up from time to time.

Then I noticed even the most minor changes in settings would trigger the bios recovery. For example I have to run my memory at 1333mhz, if I enable the XMP profile to have the memory run at 1600mhz it crashes and resets the previous setting of 1333mhz. Even leaving everything default but changing base clk from Auto to manual, but not changing the speed itself triggers a crash and bios recovery. I tried all bios revisions up to F7.

Other Thoughts: I bought the board based off Hardocp's Gold award it received. I would like nothing more then to give this board another shot and review that board but Gigabyte doesn't do cross-shipping and I can't wait 2 weeks as this is my business computer.

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost prefect, except for eSATA

Pros: A nice combination of features, very good value for the money.

Cons: Despite what the product documentation claims, the eSATA connection is NOT hot-swappable. That is, if you plug in an external drive via eSATA, you won't be able to unplug it unless you shut down the computer. The GIGABYTE tech support could not help with this problem.

Other Thoughts: The built-in sound stopped working after 14 days. RMA-ing the board, hopefully the replacement will work better.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Board!

Pros: Everything went very smooth, booted up first time. Gigabyte's website is great. Simply search for your model number and all the links to updated drivers, manual, memory etc are conveniently on one page. The BIOS is excellent, providing access to pretty much anything you would require for overclocking including temperatures and fan control. I like the idea of onboard USB3 since this is an mATX and I don't have to waste a PCI slot. The Intel H55 chipset doesn't support RAID (H57 does) but there is an onboard controller for (2) drives in either RAID 0 or 1.

Cons: At first I had no sound, but that was just due to misunderstanding the speaker configuration in Realtek HD Audio Manager. Also I would have liked more fan headers- there is one for CPU and one system. It isn't a big deal though because this system runs very cool so I don't require extensive control on the extra case fans.

Other Thoughts: After extensive research I narrowed my choices down to this board and the Asus P7H55D-M EVO. While I may attempt a mild overclock in the future, it's not the most important factor for me so I went with Gigabyte. I don't do any gaming so decided to take a chance on integrated graphics in the i3-530 to keep costs down, and for me video is better than expected. All things considered this is a great mid-range board with lots of features for the money, and I'm very happy with it. As always make sure you update the BIOS, install latest drivers, use approved memory and if only using (2) modules use the white slots. 1 out of 5 eggsoverclocking not working at all

Pros: Seems like a nice package for a HTPC at stock settings (1333 DDR3).

Cons: I feel that my overclocking expertise is quite high, however, this board has given me more problems than any other I've ever owned in terms of overclocking. First, neither of my DDR31600 kits work at their rated speeds. I have to downclock them to 1333 in order for the system to boot correctly. Also, any manipulation of voltages, clock speeds, or practically anything in the MIT BIOS page will cause the system to report an error in overclocking and it resets the BIOS settings. I've tested two different CPUs, the 860 and 875K. Resetting CMOS, loading optimal defaults, and starting over again doesn't help. I've tried only very slight overclocks (just a few megahertz) to using extra voltage, but nothing will get this motherboard to boot successfully.

Other Thoughts: Perhaps my problems are due to an incompatibility with the DDR3 kits I am using - G.SKILL 1600 CL7 and ADATA 1600 CL9. Perhaps the newer BIOS versions have caused problems with overclocking? I have tried versions F6, F7, and F8a. In any case, I am about fed up with this and am probably going to return this and try a P55 board instead. Reviews online for this board were very good, I am quite disappointed that it didn't pan out as I thought it would.

Cons: DOA, power cycles like the others.
