1 out of 5 eggsBlue Screen of Death

Pros: Had good luck with Gigabyte in the past.

Cons: Blue screen of death after boot up after Windows 7 Service Pack 1 install.

Other Thoughts: Returned this board for an Intel board.

3 out of 5 eggsWhere's the driver CD?

Pros: Cost, integrated RAID, managable size, ease of access for internal wiring.

Cons: The box shipped without a CD for some reason, and a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 doesn't seem to recognize the onboard LAN controller. So, I can't download or install anything easily. Pretty annoying.

Other Thoughts: I'll update this once I figure out how to run Windows Update and install my software.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat low cost board

Pros: worked out of the box with out any problems, posted up fine and hasn't had any problems, I bought it to build a low cost and QUIET, hackintosh. Installation went smooth and the only thing that was loud was the hard drive, I went though three 1T drives a seagate, samsung, and, a WD before I tried a hitachi, its very quick and quiet.

Cons: wish it had more ram slots, and pick your video card carefully, long cards will get close to the memory

Other Thoughts: newegg has always treated me with good service, as long as it continues, they will have myself as a customer

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works well when it does

Cons: Works well when it does

Other Thoughts: This motherboard worked well for a few month and then is started shutting down after a random amount of time. Eventually it completely died. I am now trying to get an RMA from GYGABITE but they are not very fast on RMA’s.

3 out of 5 eggsbudget sandy bridge

Pros: inexpensive sandy bridge, compatible with OSX86 and Windows8 developer. a good amount of USB ports

Cons: lacks on board firewire, no PCI slots. even though it is inexpensive for a sandy bridge build, the AMD AM3 Motherboards still offer a significant value over an Intel based system for a budget build.

Other Thoughts: i bought this MB because it was recommended for a OSX86 build, it does work excellent for that application. it also works well for Windows8 developer, and although i am waiting for Ubuntu11.10 to be released, im certain it will work correctly with that OS as well. I usually buy ASUS Motherboards and this board is comparable in quality, but somewhat lacking in features. overall, this MB is a good product for a specific application, and an average MB for a basic PC build.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat when it runs

Pros: combo system was a quick easy build -- booted right up -- running Win7-64 with 8GB and 2 HD as RAID (1 TB each)

Cons: Problems started with infrequent random BSOD -- black screen with random color blotches near left edge or top. Problems got worse until it wouldn't boot. RMA'd to Gigabyte and 3 weeks later it was returned with "no problem". It still randomly dies. I'll NEVER by another Gigabyte MB.

Other Thoughts: Case and power supply sold with combo is not a great match -- ATX-12V power supply cable is tight across PCI slots and prevents use of PCI slots without an extension cable (not included)

4 out of 5 eggsGood board for the price with 1 problem

Pros: Lots of USB, onboard video and 2x PCIx16 slots.

Cons: DVI port will not work once driver is installed in Windows. But VGA port works fine. When DVI port uses, the monitor goes to sleep when connected to the DVI port.

1 out of 5 eggsPeriodic reboot loops

Pros: When it's working, it has all the features I wanted for a small fileserver at a very competetive price.

Cons: It will run for several days, then suddenly reboot, and reboot, and reboot. Once it begins, the reboot loop can continue for several hours. This behavior is consistent for the board across two, separate, problem-free Enermax power supplies. The problem is not fixed by an update to the F4 firmware. The problem is consistent across debian, freeBSD, and windows 7.

Other Thoughts: I have not had problems with Gigabyte hardware in the past, so this was surprising.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Board

Pros: Got this board as it was referenced on maximumpc.com, fits in my case (Thermaltake Lanbox Lite) and haven't had any problems so far.

Cons: That it only has 2 RAM slots, but that's not much of a con or -1 egg.

1 out of 5 eggsLooks OK on the surface...

Pros: Price, lots of USB ports

Cons: Those USB ports don't seem to always work.
Random BSODs.

If this system is off for more than a couple hours it almost 100% of the time BSODs on boot up. I've replaced the RAM and video card, so those aren't the problem.

Can't get some external USB drives to work. Have to unplug & replug USB devices to get them to work sometimes.

Other Thoughts: Due to the flaky nature of this board, I'm going to have to eat equipment and labor costs to replace the board for my client. I'm now going to lose $ on the sale. Bummer.

I've never had problems with Gigabyte in the past but this has put a sour taste in my mouth.

BTW, the replies from Gigabyte to folks having problems are a joke since the email address they give (newegg-support@gigabyte-usa.com) DOESN'T EVEN EXIST.
