5 out of 5 eggs1 year review

Pros: I have had this motherboard for around a year now and I love it.I read the bad reviews and do not understand why.I have had vey few issues with this board and the ones I have had were all other parts when finaly found and fixeD it, no issues with the board.
It has solid performance with good parts used on it and thats what counts for me.I run this with the evga gtx590 classified 3gb video card and my gaming is out of this worild.I use a intel i7 960@stock settings and nothing slows it down.24gigs of hyperx ddr3 1600 ram and I was all set.I even still use a WD caviar black750gig hdd not an ssd and it's still super fast and I do not have to wait for anything.
I guess you can get a bad anything from time to time but I have not had one bad gigbyte board yet.I think your system is what you put into it and thats what you get out of it.If you use good solid high performance parts your system is solid and works when you need it to.
For me this has been a solid performance board.
Love It...

Cons: None.It works and has had solid very good performance from day one.No issues for me...

Other Thoughts: The noly thing I would change is to add more space for pcie slot 1 and 2 to get more air flowing for sli of 2 video cards. Now I run 1 evga gtx590 classified 3gb card and I have no issues at all. With 2 evga gtx580 ultra classified cards I would have liked more space for air flowing to the fans on the cards.
In the end I love the board and hope to run it for another year and then go to the x79's.Till then I can say this board is hard to beat and has solid performance with good parts...

1 out of 5 eggsNo 3 channel memory function

Pros: Nice looking motherboard. Has plenty of features.

Cons: Can't get the board to accept 3 memory sticks. I tried two different sets of memory, Crucial and Kingston. Both are supported (supposedly) by the documentation on Gigabyte's website. Neither set works as 3 channel. Board will recognize that 3 sticks are inserted, but refuses to use the one in DDR3_1 in any configuration. Board only works in dual channel. I see by posts on the internet that this is a common problem with this board, although most don't do it right out of the box like this one, could take a couple months.

5 out of 5 eggsLike it is.

Pros: I wanted to do one last review of this to tell things like they are about this motherboard. Some of the people who ordered this must be doing something wrong setting it up or just got a bad board that anyone can get from any motherboard producer at anytime.
I have had this board for some time now with no issues that anyone would have getting a new system running. It is plug and play for the most part other than setting some of the bio stuff the way you want it.
I have run gigabyte boards for years with very good performance on all my gaming pc's.I have never had to rma one board.
Anyone can get a bad part at anytime.Thats just the way things are.I'm sure newegg stands behind what they sell and any issue anyone has is taken care of unless it is past 30 day and thats fair in my book as well.
Gigabyte has very good but not the fastist support I have used. The fastist support you will find is EVGA..

Cons: None...Runs like it should with super performance.

Other Thoughts: You only get what you pay for and your pc is only as good as the person setting it up.Most issues I have had in the past were because of something I was not doing or doing wrong.
If you take the time to get support from gigabyte or anyother parts producer most if not all issues can be overcome.
I have had very good performance at a fair price from gigabyte and that is the way it is.

2 out of 5 eggsnot happy

Pros: good looks, lots of leds to show whats going on, should support x16 by x16 crossfire/sli

Cons: the performance is horrid when i place both gpu' s in the x16 x16 slots. i had to drop a card (a 5850) in the x8 slot for better performance and had to buy additional long cf bridges to do this.

Other Thoughts: updated to newest mb bios, and ati drivers,

1 out of 5 eggsHELP

Pros: I wrote my original review just after building my system and have been trying to get Gigabyte to help me with my issues. I love this board but have had no luck with Gigabyte support.

Cons: I have had no luck getting Gigabyte support to help me with poor 6g/s Marvell controller issues. Also the USB 3.0 front header has a broken port that won't even allow a device to be plugged into it. This may be trivial to most people but I was looking forward to decorating my case and sadly I didn't receive the Decorative G1-Killer STICKERS!

Other Thoughts: I have put all of my eggs into this one basket and I can't afford to dismantle my Brand New i7 computer to RMA Return this motherboard. GIGABYTE PLEASE HELP!!!

2 out of 5 eggsStay Away

Pros: Everything but the Bigfoot NIC

Cons: When I first installed the board, I tried for hours to get ANY drivers for the Bigfoot NIC to install. I tried the latest from Gigabyte, the ones on the included CD, and was finally able to get the latest ones from Bigfoot to install. But, the connection drops constantly. I've tried umpteen drivers, any number of variations of settings in the app, 3 different BIOS, and nothing seems to consistently work. When I consider that I chose this board over others because of the hardware NIC, I'm extremely disappointed. I've had a ticket in with Gigabyte for while now, and no response yet. I've always had good luck with Gigabyte products, but this leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Other Thoughts: I cannot recommend this board. The integrated NIC should be a given, and I've had nothing but problems with it.

5 out of 5 eggsAWESOME

Pros: This is the best Motherboard that I have ever owned. I have been building my own gaming systems for twenty years and I have worked with everything. I have always liked Gigabyte motherboards. The dual bios feature alone can save you when you go to upgrade the bios. this board is so packed with features that I won't even try to list them. I have been absolutely torturing this board for a week now and can't find any reason not to love it.

Cons: NONE WHATSOEVER

Other Thoughts: Take advantage of all the 4 pin PCM fan connectors and hook up some of the fluid bearing, orange, Cougar fans and let this board control your case cooling. The easytune utility will let you setup the fan control to your preference.

5 out of 5 eggsLove It.....

Pros: I have run gigbyte motherboards for years and they are the best boards I have found. They are made solid and last for years. The support from gigbyte is some of the best you will find if you do have an issue to work out,but out of the 6 or 7 gigbyte boards I have used they are plug and play for the most part.I have had to set a few things in the bios the way I wanted them but with the booklet that comes with each board it is super easy.
This is one of the best and easyist boards to overclock I have used ever.
I like this board more than any I have had to date and the performance for the money is spot on right.I think I got what I paid for with this board and more.

Cons: None...This is the best motherboard I have found for the money if you are running the x58 system. You can pay more and get alot less.

Other Thoughts: I ordered the g.skill sniper ram with this and it is plug and play. The ram and board gave me a good boost in the performane I was getting with the older x58 system I was running.I went froma foxconn bloodrage motherboard to this one and it was like night and day.
The gigabyte G1 Gurrilla is a super motherboard and well worth the money you can get one for now.
This is the board I should have went to the as soon as it came out.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Cool

Pros: Looks cool and I trust Gigabyte. I have built 3 rigs using Gigabyte boards and all have been stable machines

Cons: All the cool stuff gets buried. The cool south bridge heat sink is only seen right after you pull it out of the box. Cards bury that right away. If you plan on usung all of your RAM slots, don't bother buying the huge heat sink and fan. You'll be left to choose heat sink or RAM. I chose RAM. heat sink... RMA... You know what one I'm talkin about. Nautica?

Other Thoughts: Untill I get an unstable machine from Gigabyte... I will stand by them.
