In the past, enabling Intel Smart Response technology meant users needed to enter BIOS in order to configure their system for RAID mode, which then required a complete reinstall of the operating system. Once that processes was completed, users then needed to install the Intel Rapid Storage Utility as well as configure Intel's Smart Response Technology. GIGABYTE EZ Smart Response does all of this automatically, without users having to perform a complicated install process. This allows them to quickly and effortless enjoy a significant boost in system performance.
  • newegg GIGABYTE Touch BIOS Navigating through the BIOS to change system settings can a daunting task for users not familiar with control "F" functions and mouse-less navigation. While some EFI BIOS try to address this with a mouse friendly environment, many implementations still lack certain ease-of-use necessary for most people. With GIGABYTE Touch BIOS, GIGABYTE engineers have completely re-imagined how users interact with their BIOS, allowing for a more intuitive user experience. In fact, with a touch screen monitor, GIGABYTE Touch BIOS is as easy to use as most apps on you iPhone.
  • newegg Switchable Graphics with LucidLogix Virtu GPU Virtualization GIGABYTE Z68 motherboards are enabled with LucidLogix Virtu GPU Virtualization technology which allows users to dynamically switch between their built-in graphics and their high-end, 3D discrete graphics cards. 4 out of 5 eggsOn the Fence

Pros: Solid build, fast. Sata ports are on the back end of the board which makes for better cable management if you have the right case. I could see where this might be a problem in a small case!

Cons: 8 pin power connector is a reach for some power supplies.
CPU fan sits VERY close to the memory.
When I restart my computer it shuts down. When I try to power it up it runs for about 3 seconds then powers down again. It would randomly boot into Windows but it was highly unrealiable. I flashed the bios per another user having luck with this, however it did not work for me. RMA with Gigabyte in the process, shipping it out today.

Other Thoughts: Bought 4 of these for new builds at work. 3 of them worked flawlessly. The 4th has given me some problems.
If Gigabyte handles this in a professional matter, I will be buying more of these boards! Sometimes you get bad parts, it is not always an indication of how well its made.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's okay

Pros: Plenty of features.

Cons: After about a week or so, I started having problems. Occasionally the CD-ROM drive would unload(no longer detectable), system hung for a while, any restarts would result in complete shutdowns, followed by continuous restart/shutdown cycles. Flashing the BIOS did help it quite a bit though.

Other Thoughts: Not a bad board considering the price. If you purchase, flash the BIOS asap. Will save you from a load of headaches. Now problems occur very rarely.

2 out of 5 eggsHad trouble with it

Pros: Not too pricey

Worked great for the first week or so

Cons: After about a week it started giving me problems. Computer would crash and require several boot cycles to finally get it up and running again. Once it boots up it says it had failed due to instability with overclocking.... I DIDN"T overclock anything...

Other Thoughts: Replaced with a ASUS P8Z68-V PRO and I haven't had any issues

intel 2500k
GTX 460 OC edition
8Gb DDR3 Ripjaw mem

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: This board had all the features i needed and wanted for SabdyBridge Proc, Crossfire/SLI 8x +8x PCI-e. Sata 3 ports, USB 3 and many features found on more expensive boards. It fired right up with no issues and is very stable. I am pleased with the purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsreally good!

Pros: really good bang for your buck

Cons: didn't seem completely flushed with the I/O shield

Other Thoughts: wish the sata ports face up instead of to the side, extremely tight fit with mid tower case

4 out of 5 eggsNo Lucid Virtu / Intel Integrated Graphics

Pros: Has lots of bells and whistles, including four 6.0 GB/sec SATA slots, which is rare for this price. However, pay careful attention if you are getting this board because it is has the Z68 chipset (i.e. you are buying this board so you can process video conversions faster).

Cons: Sandy Bridge CPUs have a graphics processor directly on the CPU die, hence allowing you to convert videos MUCH faster than regular CPUs, as it does not require your regular video card to do the work. Your regular video is more powerful, however, because it has to go through the PCI-Express slot, the output is not as fast for converting videos. This is true even if you purchased the MOST expensive video card. It is still faster for regular 3D rendering though.

Although this motherboard has a Z68 chipset slapped on it, it cannot use the integrated Intel graphics capability as others have pointed out. In addition, it requires Lucid's Virtu software (if you don't wanna have to reboot each time you use the function), which is NOT free. It is licensed free with some motherboards. Researching online, I don't believe this motherboard comes bundled with it. Also, this motherboard does not have a DVI/HDMI out, which is typically required for using Intel's IGP.

Other Thoughts: Some people say you can use the integrated Intel graphics processor without having a DVI/HDMI out on the motherboard, but who really knows? Plus as noted, the software is probably not bundled with this board. Just a fair warning, my friends.

On the other hand, the Biostar TZ68A+RCH specifically states in the details that it supports Lucid Virtu Technology. It's less expensive, and the ratings are excellent. That is probably the best bang for your bucks motherboard, if you are looking to utilize Intel's IGP. If you don't do video converting, this won't matter to you. But one day, you might just go YouTube crazy...

5 out of 5 eggsNice Z68 board

Pros: Nice Z68 board. 2x 6Gb SATA, USB 3.0. Easy to config memory (1600) and overclock.

Everything just worked after powering it on. :) Nice & smooth.

Cons: None that I can think of.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Board

Pros: Easy to overclock bios
Stable with i5 2400 @ 4.2 GHZ
Full Mac OSX86 support for Hackintosh

Cons: The first RAM slot is a little too close to the CPU for my liking. But not enough to subtract an egg!

Other Thoughts: Intel i5 2400
Hackintosh OSX86 10.6.8 stable fully working

4 out of 5 eggsGreat MoBo except for one thing...

Pros: The Z68 chip set is awesome and super fast. I love the color scheme, but that;s pure aesthetics.

Cons: The only real negative I have here is the PCI-E x16 slot. I inserted my Sapphire Radeon 6970 and when I tried to remove it, the clip you're supposed to lift up to take out the vid card just broke off. I guess the good thing is I can now remove my video card, but at the expense of a broken clip.

Other Thoughts: Very nice motherboard, I am thoroughly please with it considering this is my first time building my own PC. JUst one egg off for the clip breaking in the PCI-E slot
